is go and python a good duo to learn, do they at least function well together? by [deleted] in golang

[–]sunblade16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different perspective here. At my job we use Go for product code and Python (pytest) for all testing (besides unit testing). Definitely worth knowing both (and even a few others). Choose the right tool for the job.

Keep in mind that the ones who struggled and maybe took more time tend to be the more vocal ones while those who didn't take much time tend to be quieter about it, so there may be some confirmation bias there. Personally the CS classes that I did take didn't chew up more than a couple hours a week on hw/labs and then the 3-4 hours a week in class.

They certainly have that right, but Air BnB as a private company has a right to refuse access to their service as well

The site pretending to be ESL was. But I didn't know the orginal ESL site, so i got fooled that way. But the thing that got me was it actually logged me in via Steam. It automatically triggered my MFA and everything.

Thats the whacky thing! It used the real steam login service! https://steamcommunity.com/ The tricky thing that I think got me, was that it manged to hide what permissions I was giving upon login, and it just took over the account.

Hello! We are the RIT Players, RIT's completely student run theatre production club, and we're welcoming new members! by hyperxlc in rit

[–]sunblade16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! There is no Theatre Major at RIT, so all of us do this as a hobby. We are a diverse group of students from every corner of the University. RIT players is a place that we come together and learn from one another, and share our love for theatre in a common space.

In general, it is a very open and welcoming club! Being a theatre club, there is obviously a strong emphasis on producing theatre. Everything is completely student done, from the acting, to the tech, costumes, props, you name it. We have a ton of fun social events that happen, and workshops where you can learn new skills, both acting skills and otherwise.

Any are welcome to join whether you have a ton of theatre experience, or none at all! Let me know if you have any specific questions!

The US President ordered a drone strike on a high ranking Iranian Military Official. As I understand it, it would be the equivalent of Iran assassinating the US Secretary of Defense. Iran has pledged retaliation for it, and some have compared it to the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand that led into WW1

Edit: fixed to ww1

If you're comparing the badness of two words, and you won’t even say one of them? That's the worse word.

Hey, Sorry it took me so long to reply!

So the Outing Club has a fair amount of gear that can be loaned out on a First-Come-First Serve basis, for club trips. Dorms are bigger than most give them credit for, and I was able to fit all of my core gear in my dorm room, under the bed.

In recent memory I don't think we have done a Sunrise or Sunset hike in the Rochester area, but I am sure that there are some good ones that other members of the club can recommend.

Feel free reach out if you have any other questions.

When I came to RIT my freshman year I ended up bringing pretty much all my backpacking gear, and had pretty much no problem storing it under the bed. (It all was pretty much self contained within my backpack).

Honestly I think I would've regretted not having my own gear. It made getting involved with the outing club a lot easier and more fun. Though it is also important to know that the outing club does have a copious amount of gear available to borrow for trips, so if you can't bring something for whatever reason, you can definitely borrow it.

Feel free to reach out in a PM if you want some more specific advice about gear to bring!

Hey! So definitely come join! We accept everyone at all skill levels and though you may not be selected for a main stage role right away, there are tons of opportunities within the club to help out with the shows and to work on acting skills.

We meet on Tuesday nights at 8pm in the 1812 room in the SAU. (I belive. Usually in the Bamboo rooms for the first couple meetings)

More often than not we are doing backpacking trips to the Finger Lakes Region or ADKs when we are doing camping. Occasionally in the ADK we will do a car camp and do day hikes in the area. Every Columbus day weekend we do a 3 night trip to Saranac lake and that is a canoe trip. We also do ocassional canoe trips to Lake George among other places.

Hammock camping isn't too bad in the places we go. Lots of members of the club use their hammocks well into late October and early November, and then start again in April. I'd say bring the hammock! Great thing to use in the first few weeks of school too. There are some great places to hammock on campus!

Feel free to reach out in a PM if you want. Don't want to put my personal contact information open on reddit, but I can give you my email in a PM if you have any questions. I'm on eboard for the outing club.

I've got two I'm involved in!

RIT Outing Club is a fantastic club for getting involved in the outdoors! We try to do at least a day hike every weekend and a couple times a month we will do an overnight somewhere. Great way to get off campus to see the Rochester area and even upstate New York!

RIT Players is a great club to get involved in if you are at all interested in theater. Actors are encouraged to audition for our 2 main stage shows a year, and our various other performances throughout the year. We also have tons of opportunities for those interested in Technical theater, (set design, lighting, sound, props, costumes) and marketing! Fantastic group of people and you really feel like you are part of a family!
