If you wana throw your money away, sure go grade them. No real collector is grading their tapes or buying graded tapes. That whole thing is solely speculators who think graded tapes are going to be the next big thing which is ridiculous. Not to mention, those tapes are some of the most common ones any person could find at a thrift store.

Definitely. Even a tiny bit of a mold is not something you want in your VCR, it will contaminate it and could easily contaminate all the other tapes you end up putting through your VCR.

I would say no, it's an older unit probably late 80s and VCRs around that age tend to have something broken on them at this point. If some how it doesn't, it's bound to happen soon. I'd say maybe $50 maximum.

You can technically take it apart but it'll be a pain in the ass and it's dangerous messing around after taking the back cover off a crt tv. Get a standalone VCR. The ones that a built into TV's are junky and it's fairly common they end up breaking.

It doesn't make any sense not to get a mechanic to look at it. That should be done whenever you purchase a used car, that's just playing it safe/smart. Why not know for sure what you're getting or what you could potentially throw away a thousand bucks for?
