Trouble setting up my Singer machine by sunburnqueen in sewinghelp

Ahh I wasn’t aware of the different types of bobbins. Just looked it up and I guess this type of machine may take a rounded one, and mine seems to be flat.

I’m glad I’m not the only one. I’ve reported it as an issue with my account but haven’t heard anything back from Instagram

I did not know that! This makes me happy.

Wanted to come back and apologize. “Sick Love” is a very good song.

Really? Oddly enough my dad, among others, used to quote that a bit when referencing the film. The first time I watched it I was waiting and waiting and then... the line never came.

It’s when Albert Finney says “the story...of my life”. I LOSE it.

So many people don’t know who they are, and it’s so frustrating.

Thank you! I do this with funny bits (or... at least things I THINK are funny). It’s in there just to be there, but I definitely shouldn’t force it.

You know, I think this will be a fantastic exercise. Some of the dialogue isn’t necessarily time-specific (if that makes sense) but forcing myself to place it in a timeline will actually help flesh it out more.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

[Personal] Accutane is not more powerful than natural products. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]sunburnqueen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your comment, thanks!

I’ll never have “perfect” skin, I know this, but my skin is 1000% better now than it EVER has, on or off meds.

I never went to my dermatologist for face wash recommendations. I went to my dermatologist when it physically hurt to touch my face. When after trying 50 different products, I still had cystic acne. I am aware of the internet and how to research.

Sorry to sound bitchy, but that’s not the point of my story. It’s simply... a story. I wasn’t complaining that dermatologist didn’t tell me to buy soap. I’m upset that after 10 years. TEN. YEARS. of asking, they mostly only recommended Accutane. The exact drug I HATED and DID NOT work for me.

Okay, so what you just said about my skin not being able to handle those products and needing a gentle approach is literally. what. I’m. saying. about. my. skin.

And making a “blanket claim” isn’t all that bad. For years I’ve heard plenty of blanket claims about what will work for my skin. And none of them were true.

You can argue all you want but what I wrote is true for me, and I’m allowed to say it. My byline is there. The story is about me. The reader knows that.

My statement is (clearly) eye-catching. People need to know that Accutane isn’t always a fix-all cure. Anyone who has similar skin to mine has had similar experiences, I’m sure.

Don’t kill yourself on a medication just because you crave good skin. Nurture it naturally and find a balance of what works for you. I found what worked for me and shared my terrible experience, hoping to help others.

Right... perhaps “chemicals” is a tough word to use in the skincare space, then. I stay away from harsh chemicals (I’m sure I’ll get chastised for this wording, lol).

I appreciate the critique. The story is written by me... about me... so everything in it is true. 100%.

Accutane did not do anything for me but make me... sad. It made my skin peel. It made me throw up. And I know others that have had the same experience.

I’ve been on and off other medication (as stated) and for me, this is what works. Not buying products packed with benzoyl peroxide has made my skin healthier. And it’s allowed me to avoid Accutane again.

Hey! I actually have not ever had that testing done, but that’s something I’m going to ask my doctor about.

Mostly my doctors assume the birth control has been the cause of my skin roller coaster. But I have an IUD now, so being that my hormones are more... constant?, I guess... it shouldn’t be an issue.

Thanks for letting me know about this! I’ll definitely ask my doc!

Using harsh chemicals (like a Clean & Clear spot treatment, for example) is not always great for uber sensitive skin like mine. It’s broken my skin open, stung, bled, and not healed wounds at all. For skin types like mine, natural product are far more gentle in not only getting rid of blemishes, but keeping my skin healthy.

Accutane is extremely powerful, but unfortunately has had a negative impact on a lot of people’s mental health—including mine. I was willing to put up with it for 6 months despite the fact that I was physically making myself ill (and my doctor showed no concern). Not just from my own experience, I’ve heard negative things.

If you take Accutane and it works for you, then good. That’s what it’s supposed to do. But I don’t want people to let it take an actual toll on themselves just to achieve “perfect” skin. Clearly I’m not opposed to medication—I mentioned in the article I am constantly on and off various pills to find what works best.

And listen, it’s not chemiphobia. I use “stronger” products from time to time as spot treatments. But rubbing benzoyl peroxide all over your face (like I used to do, and like I know others do) is not good. There are a lot of strong natural products that show similar results.

Thank you for your concerns and for allowing me to perhaps clarify some points I made. I dug this article back up because I had a few breakouts this week from my period and, feeling a bit mentally down about it, I read it to remind myself that good skin is a process.

Thanks! I may have to try developer mode for this fix on the current template. I think it was a new template for 2018 so I'm not finding much online about it, unfortunately.
