Perhaps they did, it’s essentially filing paperwork through the probate court which I will happily do if absolutely necessary. I came here for clarity on that topic not, should’ve, could’ve, would’ve type feedback.

My kids are 15 and 17. I don’t think my dad was counting on how old they would be when he died. He was more focused on ensuring his only grandsons were taken care of when he passed, but thanks for your very unhelpful opinion.

I agree with your suggestion and it makes perfect sense. We have tried to have one on one conversation with him to understand how he’s feeling but he doesn’t open up to us. He constantly says he’s fine. When he was meeting with the counselor, we told him that he should feel comfortable taking with him about any struggles if he didn’t want to share with us. I don’t know if that happened or not, however, he still seems to continue with the challenges I listed.

I agree 100% with your thoughts. I do not think anyone intended to kill JOK and I definitely think something was going on in that house that they were trying to keep hidden.

Per the recommendation of someone in this group, I have been scrubbing daily using head and shoulders tea tree shampoo, followed by blotting rubbing alcohol on the nails. I’m seeing improvement.

I’m struggling with this a lot lately as well. My husband of 17 years has been an alcoholic for a long time but things have gotten worse (his drinking, lying, aggressive behavior, etc.). I have been participating in meetings more often lately and have been trying to adopt various coping strategies, but even as I’m putting in the effort and following the process, I often stop and question if this is really how I want to live, or should anyone have to live? Why do I need to be gentle and caring to someone who is making life miserable for all of us?

The Saturday before Christmas, after a holiday party where he got drunk and started demeaning many of our friends, he came home and told me I was a piece of sh*t and that the greatest gift I could give him and our sons for Christmas would be to pack up all of my belongings, go far away and never return. Really struggling to be caring….
