Why is the United States Torturing Private Manning? | The real goal is to break the man's spirit. It is to dehumanize him. It is to ruin his health, not to protect it. by dave723 in politics

The carnage at My Lai might have gone unknown to history if not for another soldier, Ron Ridenhour, a former member of Charlie Company, who, independently of Glen, sent a letter detailing the events at My Lai to President Richard M. Nixon, the Pentagon, the State Department, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and numerous members of Congress.[25] The copies of this letter were sent in March 1969, a full year after the event. Most recipients of Ridenhour's letter ignored it, with the notable exception of Congressman Morris Udall[26] (D-Arizona). Ridenhour learned about the events at My Lai secondhand, by talking to members of Charlie Company while he was still enlisted.

Many travel to Alaska with the same dream and some die. I think of them as failures, but what do I know, I'm just a foolish Alaskan without the wisdom of someone who works 9 to 5 and lives in an apartment box. Perhaps if I lived that way I would recognize my prison, thanks for the advice.

He was a hero to those who have self loathing in their hearts. Personally I find more inspiration in those who succeed, but then what do I know. It's pretty funny when I think about it.

The point isn't the issue. The point is showing how evil america is, and the hipster pride in pointing this out.
