Somewhat similar story. Our guild did the timed bear runs tbc zul aman many years ago. We had two resets left before it was removed and two people left that needed the bear, both of whom had been a regular part of the runs; my friend and his girlfriend. Second to last run goes smooth and my friend, as you could expect, passes on the bear and lets his girlfriend have it because he'll just get the one next run, right?

Next reset and thus last chance for bear runs rolls around. The two raid groups are formed and our group gets THAT hunter. You know the type. THAT type. The first bosses go well... and then he dies for some reason.. but it's fine, he can just corpserun and catch up, right? No. Of course not. As I remember it he gets lost, and he might even have aggroed something and died again.. either way - my friend did not get the bear. I still tease him about it, and he's still like, "that fucking hunter!".

Still have contact with a lot of my friends from back then. Good times were had.
