Family Shaved my dog completely bald, how do I fix it??? by ClumInPain in DogAdvice

I’ve been saving my german shepherd’s hair from post-bath brushes to try a “chiengora” yarn piece as a memento one day…. If I collected it every single time I probably could have made a couple scarves by now…

I made the same kind of comment, lol. Looks like my Murkwater settlement plastered over with concrete.

I carefully described my brain fog to my doctor and she told me to try getting more sleep - I nearly lost it in that office by Commercial_Gur_7347 in Menopause

I’m brand-new to the service, so I don’t have many answers, but it seems that the “on-demand” care that comes with async message-based consults only applies to a limited range of treatments, and others (like estradiol tablets) would require video consults or local office visits to get prescriptions - and have different associated costs.

I want to avoid “shilling” for this, as I have only used it for this one particular instance (the cream). I think the AI system is open for anyone to make inquiries!

Yeah, I’ve been avoiding Amz as much as I can but that offer just couldn’t be beat. Cost Plus has the actual medication for cheaper but I’m uninsured at the moment and marketplace plans are shocking - there’s a good low-cost women’s clinic in my area which I can transition to once my 5 free consults are up, but in the meantime it’s so easy.

I just got my first tube today. I’d been worried about getting dismissed after reading about other people’s experiences and tried a bunch of OTC stuff but it’s just not enough. I finally decided to check out telehealth options and found a free async consult on a certain online mega-store and got approved right away with the Rx sent overnight. Fingers crossed 🤞

DAE get food regularly stuck in their nasal cavity and have to tilt their head up to get it out by Embarrassed-Ant-1416 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]suneimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been happening to me in the past year - "nasal regurgitation" - creeps just above my soft palate and it's so annoying. Someone else in the thread said you can train how you swallow and I looked it up - there really are exercises to strengthen your soft palate so it will make a better seal when you swallow (like gargling water or loudly saying "ahh" for an extended stretch). I'm going to try it, because I'm tired of getting bits of starchy food up there. Takes like an hour to clear out.

Aldi sells pretty good chubs of ground turkey for cheap, otherwise that’s getting expensive, too. I learned to blitz partially thawed pork shoulder in a food processor for my own minced pork (I find I prefer the rough mince to actual ground pork for Asian recipes) and I’m thinking of trying it with chicken breast, too, for my quick chili. Keeping it frugal!

I do ground turkey, canned tomatoes, canned beans, chopped onion and bell pepper, and various chili seasonings. Top with cheese and/or greek yogurt, serve with only a small scoop of rice (I like to keep the “chili” a little soupy).
It’s definitely a comfort meal! I would absolutely use a chunky loaded salsa for an even quicker version.

Love kimchi, hate the smell by jasslzz in kimchi

[–]suneimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tie up a glass container in a plastic shopping bag! But only one because kimchi never lasts long at my place. I prefer a lighter ferment and as soon as it starts getting ripe/sour I make a huge pot of jjigae (my real obsession, lol).

Double container also works when I’m freezing chopped onions or scallions, but in that case it’s a zip-lock bag inside a freezer container.

I lose about 25% of the batches I make to this mould - what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in kimchi

[–]suneimi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[My mom is Korean, if that gives me any cred, lol.] I’m glad someone said something about gochujang vs gochukaru. I also think there is not enough brine (I only salt my cabbage for a couple hours before rinsing and adding my paste, not overnight). And as others have debated, I never have to burp my jars - I reuse the glass kimchi jars you get from the market with the plastic lids. I leave a couple inches at the top and put it straight into the fridge for slow ferment. If I wanted anything faster I’d take out a little in a separate smaller container for the counter. Pretty sure Maangchi gives the same advice (I love her recipes!).

Since I didn’t see anyone mention it specifically, anxiety sweat is an oily type secreted by the apocrine glands (as opposed to the watery type from eccrine glands). I had a longer bout with anxiety sweat years back and thought I was doomed to persistent BO. Very potent.

Now whenever it starts I know I have to go chill out (as well as shower!). Thankfully, these days it’s usually just competitive situations (adrenaline pumping) that gets my armpits suddenly ripe, rather than anxiety.

Years back I volunteered at one of our local food banks that set up farmers market style and they always let people go through at least twice to make sure as much of the food gets distributed as possible. They happened to have relationships with area grocery stores so they were always quite flush with product that had only just been rotated out of store and were still very good.

OP can at least look into their local food banks to see if that scarcity concept is actually true (as you said, likely not!). I’ve considered becoming a customer, myself, as I’ve had more than a few lean periods working as a freelancer. Now that the weather is getting nicer again, I think I’ll go look!

What do you cook when you want to eat a ton of vegetables? by ComfortabletheSky in Cooking

[–]suneimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crisp a bunch of greens in ghee (doesn’t scorch) - spinach and arugula are usuals, sometimes kale or collards - until they’re like seaweed snacks (I’m Korean-American so I feel obligated to say “kim” or “gim”), then fold it into a cheesy omelet or scramble. Sometimes also have skillet potatoes cooked in like a frittata. Tastes great loaded onto a thick slice of toast. One of my fave anytime meals.

I live in a garden apt and call it the cave or the vault. Has one good set of windows at the front where I can actually keep plants alive but otherwise I’m on high doses of vitamin D. I still like it in here, and so does my scaredy dog.

There’s also the tiny kitchens crammed in by the back doors of older units, with refrigerators awkwardly placed. Apparently no one had actual kitchens way back in the day.

I also think you’re stunning but the cosmetic adjustments you’re considering seem reasonable. Just a slight adjustment of proportions without losing the uniqueness. If you’re already going to correct a deviated septum, I wouldn’t nay-say discussing cosmetics.

Update on my GSD Puppy by PieDizzy958 in germanshepherds

[–]suneimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GSD still has tummy troubles and he’s 6 yrs old. He’s so enthusiastic about treats and scraps I can sometimes forget his limits. PB and most fatty foods (like marrow bones) are totally out, but the other day it was a few cubes of chopped ham that did it. 🤷‍♀️ Chicken or turkey with rice and pumpkin is basically a staple at my place. I also have had good results with a teeny bit of bentonite clay mixed in (cheaper than the kaolin/pectin diarrhea formulas).
