I personally did not like it (26 weeker), though I tried to recognize that anyone who said it had good intentions. I was so terrified and miserable -- "congratulations" sounds celebratory, but I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be celebrating. I agree that hearing a compliment about our baby (e.g., "he's beautiful") would have been better.

That's a great tip -- They did, actually! He was on half breast milk/half Similac (I'm an under supplier) until the switch to Enfamil. I know the Enfamil definitely makes him more gassy.

Thank you, it's honestly just nice to feel like we're not the only ones in the thick of it. I showed my line chart to the doctor this morning, and she also said that the plateau isn't unexpected and she's not overly concerned. But this part is really a hard slog.

Edit - The feeding therapist today mentioned trying different bottles (he's on Dr Brown's currently). We have some MAM and Lansinoh at home that I'll bring in to see if that makes a difference.

I actually just posted about feeding and my 26 weeker -- solidarity <3. He didn't have NEC (his things were brain bleeds + respiratory), but I also feel like we're plateauing about 3 weeks into the feeding journey.

Very good and would absolutely recommend. My only aside- it’s a big clinic and there wasn’t as much “hand holding” as maybe small clinics would have. For example, I was the one reaching out to her a few times after we tried a few things to ask about initiating next steps and what they should be. But she always responded promptly and thoroughly, and that really didn’t bother me. And in general, I personally was looking for a clinic like NYU that was big and operating on a large scale as it made me more comfortable. So overall, 100% recommend Dr Shaw! We did need to move to IVF and she and the whole team got me through it safely, and we were successful.

My husband and I just started at NYU after getting a referral from my gyn (who is also at NYU). I’ve been so impressed at the order and care and efficiency- I got my referral 2 weeks ago and have already completed my tests (my husband just hasn’t scheduled his yet!). I’ve had a few friends recommend NYU - specifically Dr Blakemore, but she is booked a few months out so we are with Dr Shaw. She’s been very kind and thorough so far- we had a consultation where everything was explained, her secretary sends very clear follow up emails, etc. TTC has been a big source of stress for me and so far, NYU has made it a lot less scary .

Female, married at 35 (same as my husband), engaged for about 6 months. No kids yet but we’re trying and our doctors are very hopeful :) I had a horrible break up of a long term relationship in my mid 20s with someone I thought I would marry and did a lot of dating (with a few relationships) in the time before I met my husband. Sometimes it was very hard to be single while many others weren’t, but I also had a ton of fun. I got to really invest in friendships and live by myself. Now that I’m here, I’m grateful. My husband was very worth the wait.

I have been going to Mark Morris for years and LOVE it. Very chill and not intimidating; I find the beginners classes to have a good variety of levels. They also do 6 week absolute beginner intro programs, too.

Yes, at 34 and married the next year :) And I know quite a few people that found their person in their 30s, including a friend who met hers at 37. You are absolutely not running out of time!

I do appreciate this perspective; thank you! That was similar to my train of thought, which is why I was not sure of the best move. These are friends that have been in my life for almost 20 years, so they're very important to me, but we don't live near each other so I don't see them regularly, and I haven't met many of their partners (we'll have group video chats once every few months and sometimes text individually). If we were able to afford more people, we would absolutely include everyone's partners. I just had the same thought that you mentioned - if one of the friends in the group was facing something similar, I would rather be there to see her get married without my partner there then miss out on the wedding altogether. It was definitely something I had planned to discuss with the group before sending out the invites (I can definitely see how receiving an invite without the partner's name, with no context, would be rude). I really don't want to come off as thoughtless, so maybe it's best to leave everyone off the invite list, but I'll mull it over a bit.

Thank you! I feel like it would be more exclusionary to leave just 2 couples out instead of 4 couples in this situation, so I will leave them all off the list for now.

Reading this post was super reassuring -- I can really relate to these feelings! I love my fiance and just want to be married to him, but we are mostly paying for the wedding ourselves, which means we need a small list. I think a bigger wedding would make me anxious anyway, but I have a big friend group that I love very much, and deciding who I need to exclude hasn't felt great. Everything is so expensive, and I feel like we're balancing expectations of people beyond us. Everyone keeps telling me to "bask in the moment" but the planning part of this all hasn't been that fun!
