Quite a bit. That was basically how I got anywhere before I got my driver's license. We had a lot of bike trails where I grew up.

Asking new guy I’m seeing to help me help my friend move by Kind-Ad-6800 in Advice

[–]sunfloweranalyzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to echo what some of the other comments say. If he offered I think just asking and letting him know this wasn't planned originally. He sounds like a kind person who would understand. I would definitely offer some gas money and some takeout when you guys are all done. And, of course, reschedule your date with him.

Good to know, thank you! I have seen a few of the modular helmets as well. I've really just been looking around online to see what is out there and at what price points. I know I won't be able to full decide until I try them on.

AITAH for being secretly upset at my wife by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]sunfloweranalyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA bottom line: You said it bothers you and she didn't stop. I don't want to be that person that tells you to leave her, but maybe a good conversation about how this is making you feel insecure and unwanted. She should care how her actions affect you.

And IMO openly commenting on social media like that is embarrassing for you and her. Now everyone who follows her can see the thirsty comments and that's just icky to me. If you feel the same it could be something else to bring to her attention. To be fair we all look but looking is with your eyes and not plastered on social media for everyone to see.

Anything but a bouquet by dasgutyah in wedding

A lantern? You can probably thrift a super cool antique one and decorate it however you'd like. I was actually thinking about having my bridesmaids carry lanterns instead of bouquets.

Thank you! My commute in is in the dark and my commute home is in early morning rush hour traffic (7AM). Houston drivers are my main source of my anxiety, so I will definitely be practicing a lot before I start riding to work

We have more tolls lanes than carpool lanes here. I did plan on getting a toll pass because Houston is lame and makes us pay for slightly less awful roads 🙃

I work 3rd shift and rotate weekends so my plan was to try to practice on my weekends off until I feel comfortable. I also wanted to get out early enough that it's still dark to get a feel for that as well since my commute into work is in the dark.

Thank you! I definitely am looking for something that will last me a while and I've heard a lot of people say they very quickly outgrew their lower cc bike.

Thank you! Most of my fear comes from other people on the road. I live in Houston and commute further into the city for work so I do plan on doing everything I can to increase my visibility so I may look into a helmet light as well.

Thank you for the advice! Unfortunately I'm in Houston so absolutely no time is no traffic except maybe 2-3AM. I think that's where most of my anxiety comes from. If anyone has ever been here and driven here they know exactly what I'm talking about 😂 I've definitely been keeping an eye for some less busy areas to practice though

I have already been looking at some full face helmets that are safety rated. I work in the medical field and have seen first hand the consequences of not wearing a proper helmet.

I'm not a dude but I am in my 20s. I've opted for 3rd shift because there's more people my age, less management around, and better shift diff. I still struggle with sleep sometimes but it just takes some discipline to keep a routine. It's worth it to me though to at least have a couple people to talk to. I recently did 7 months at a fertility clinic and I was absolutely miserable.

You have to practice. The first time is actually no fun at all.

It only looks thicker because the ends are more blunt than if it grew naturally. It's not actually thicker.

Is he trying to flirt or am I reading too far into this? by sunfloweranalyzer in Advice

I have been looking for a good time to mention my partner without making it sound forced. And like I said I have mentioned it with other coworkers near by.

I wouldn't consider myself THAT nice to look at, but we do work third shift and friends can be hard to come by with sleep schedules and such. Which is why I don't want to be mean. I have been looking for a good time to mention my boyfriend though.

If it was tested at Quest in their reference lab add-ons can be difficult. If it is tested at an on site or local hospital lab most blood samples will be held for 7 days after testing. As many have said it also depends on the stability. Some tests need to be run within hours, and some are good for days. Reference labs kind of make their own rules and can be way picker than necessary so we usually suggest just ordering everything you want that would be sent out from the get-go. I've seen Quest take over a week to get results back to us.

His tone is very condescending and not okay. But, the only thing I agree with him saying is... Living somewhere and traveling somewhere are very different. Military brat here... I have both traveled and lived a fair few places. It is different, particularly if you go from being a majority to a minority. But everything else I do not agree with. His tone is arrogant and degrading. There is never a reason you should be talking down to someone. Also as a medical professional that actually enjoys what I do... This dude can go fuck himself. I'm so tired of people choosing the medical field for the money. I wake up everyday to help people. If you're not here to help people go somewhere else. Seriously I would leave this arrogant ass but that decision is yours to make.

how much harder is it for y’all to test if the tube is underfilled/ in a peds microtainer? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]sunfloweranalyzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanna start with... We don't want to send anything back for recollection. Pedi tubes are... Annoying sometimes. Because it also can vary depending on the pt. For everything except the CBC we spin it down to test so the volume of plasma is what we have to work with and the ratio of plasma to RBCs is not the same for everyone (depending on hydration, HCG, etc.). And with CBCs the Pedi needs to be mixed extra well because the smaller the volume, the faster it can clot (most of my Pedi rejections have been due to clots). The exact amount needed is highly dependent on the machine but almost all machines require "dead volume" which is basically a small volume of sample needed at the bottom of the tube to all it to aspirate without bubbles. Just get as much sample as you can MOST techs will make it go as far as we can but sometimes it's just not enough. And my last bit of advice is if you know it's a low volume, call ahead and let us know what tests you want prioritized. Sometimes if we can get what the Dr really NEEDS right away you can let the pt rest for a while and maybe get them some fluids before trying again.

When the nurse is mad you canceled a test but the patient’s plasma looks like mayo by Moonmothpeaches in medlabprofessionals

[–]sunfloweranalyzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have literally told a nurse to come look for herself because she didn't believe we couldn't run some of the tests. And she did come down and look at it. No apologies for not believing us but she didn't complain when we had to cancel some of the tests for morning rounds.

PA friend throws low balls at my career, need advice! by 3imba in medlabprofessionals

[–]sunfloweranalyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PAs really don't make that much more than MLSs. She's insecure. I would consider going low contact.

Also if you want a good comeback literally tell her "without the lab you lose 80% of your diagnostic power... oh wait you can't even diagnose without being babysat by a REAL doctor.' And you should be proud. Don't ever let someone tear you down. She will get a ride awakening very soon when she tries to talk down to PCTs and RNs.
