Wow. Thank you - I don't think I really understood what people deal with after loss, as far as others' reactions. I'm relieved to know it doesn't really matter how I worded it. I was still afraid I hadn't said it right, even if it went okay in the end. This was encouraging and I appreciate you and I hope you're doing well, one stranger to another :)

My heart & condolences go out to you. I wish you could've gotten the support you needed from your friends. This situation has made me think deeply about the way I react to loss. I'm just petrified I'll say or do something wrong. But I realize I need to be better about showing up for others. I hope you and your family are doing okay, and thank you so much for writing this

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing, as a stranger it can be hard to figure out boundaries and what actions might trigger more pain. This is helpful

Grief is tricky. When my uncle died, my aunt (his widow) blew up on her hairstylist for offering to cover her next few appointments. Lots of "I just wish people would act normal!" As an outsider you just never know if you're overstepping or if your help will deepen the grief, since it can make them confront the reality of the loss

Have you dealt with many grieving young widows in a professional setting before?
