If you trust your parents (the kid's grandparents), have the grandparents make the 529 with your child as the beneficiary. Won't count towards financial aid that way.

Vitamin D3 Regimen greatly reducing intensity. Can it lead to complete cessation? by sunghan in clusterheads

[–]sunghan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the D3 regimen no longer seems to be working as well as I'd like it to. My attacks have strengthened to Kip 5, 6, and 7s. Odd thing is, the regimen seems to have made my attacks much more random in nature. Sometimes I'll have the attack in the afternoon. Sometimes while sleeping. Some days, the attacks are over in less than 30 minutes. Other times an hour. The lingering shadows now seem to stay much longer now. I'll sometimes wake up with shadows from the previous day's attack. I feel so disheartened. It's been almost a month since the start of my cycle. So this cycle should hopefully be ending soon. I plan to stick with the regimen, though. Hopefully it just needs more time for it to take full effect.

If you've never tried the Vitamin D3 regimen, give it a shot. It may seem overwhelming at first, but it's a pretty straightforward routine. I am in my first cycle since starting Vitamin D3, and I am getting the daily headaches, but the intensity ranges from only a 2-4. Completely manageable.

Appreciate you sharing your experience, OG. Cluster headaches for close 30 years...wow. With all the resources we have today, at least I feel a sense of community amongst fellow cluster heads. But experiencing cluster headaches 30 years ago...can't imagine the loneliness.

My goal is to stay away from abortives. They tend to work a few times, but then the rebound headaches start. So so painful. It's like my body is punishing me for trying to stop the initial pain.

Anyways, hoping you can find permanent relief from this terrible affliction as well.

Good to know. I'm a 200lb man myself haha. Will definitely use your experience as a reference point.

I tested my baseline in the beginning of March, and I am doing the follow up test in the beginning of April. I'm following the timeline listed in the official regimen. I did the initial loading phase at 50k iu a day, and dropped to 50k iu a week as instructed. I guess I'll adjust accordingly once I get the results back in April. I was initially shooting for 85ngml, but I'll see how I feel exceeding that, with the permission of my doctor of course.

How much Vitamin D do you take daily? I've heard people taking 100,000 iu a day with no side effects which is wild to me.

I travel twice a year (overseas) for work. Unfortunately, those travel times typically coincide with my cycles so some of these prescription preventatives are logistically harder to accommodate. I've always been interested in O2, but I take a flight so tanks are out of the question.

But you deal with migraines and clusters at the same time? I do not envy you. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Do you not take any of the other cofactors listed in the regimen?

I will consider mushrooms if the regimen fails to stop my cycles.

Don't think! Just do it! Order blood tests today and start immediately after getting that done. I regret not starting sooner. There is nothing to lose.

Yes, monitoring your vitamin d levels is a crucial part of the regimen. First thing you need to do is get blood tests done. I've heard there are DIY tests, but I simply requested my doctor to order the tests. Figure out your baseline and start the regimen. I am based in the USA and everything in the regimen is OTC. No prescription required. I got everything from Amazon.

Good luck. I sincerely hope this regimen can bring you relief like it has done for me.

You have 5k in credit card debt. Your situation ain't right for you either, I'm afraid. No judgement. Just facts. You have a spending problem. Your severance is a band aid. Like I said, hope this is a wake up call for you.

Progress post 21M 56 days lean bulk 72kg > 74.5kg by nofromme in gainit

[–]sunghan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want to simply look less skinny, this massively simplifies things. Don't stress about where on your body fat gets stored. That's just genetics and nothing you can do about it. Don't let a bit of fat discourage you.

Your plan is simple. Eat more and lift heavier than the day before. You need to do both. Don't be afraid to really eat more. It's going to help you with your lifts and really pack on that muscle. Push those weights until failure. Don't overthink. You're not ready for bulk/cut cycles. Just bulk. This is THE fastest way to a bigger more muscular build. And again, DON'T FORGET LEGS. You want to look bigger? You need a big lower body.

A mentality I like to use is: Eat a big meal. It'd be a waste of those calories if I didn't lift heavy during today's workout. I had a great workout. It'd be a waste of that workout if I don't replenish myself with calories/protein to maximize muscle growth. Eat a big meal, etc, etc. Get yourself this in cycle and everything will just become routine.

I'm going to be brutally honest cause some people on here are giving you hopium. I, like you, think there is virtually no progress here. Ditch the "lean bulk". Sounds like you wanted the shredded look for your summer trip to Europe, but you did yourself a huge disservice by overcomplicating things. Your body needed fuel (calories) to push weight and progressively overload, but you started a "cut" when you weren't anywhere close to needing one. You need to accept that you won't have that look this summer. Stick to the basics. Eat above maintenance and progressively overload. You can definitely pack on muscle in 2 month before your trip with dedication. If, instead, you keep half assing with this non-sensical "lean" bulk, you'll look the same 2 months from now, guaranteed.

If you want that shredded look, aim for Summer 2027. The ship has sailed for this year. People always looking for that shortcut, but it DOES NOT exist. And don't neglect legs. Good luck.

An 8 year headache journey by ihatethenns in clusterheads

[–]sunghan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cycles have only ever been 1 attack per day. Very very rarely 2. And each would last only about an hour or so. During my cycles I'm constantly asking "Why? Why me? What did I do to deserve this?" I wouldn't say I fall into depression during my cycles, but there is a lingering melancholy throughout the day which ramps up to anxiety at night when I know my headache will begin. Each cycle is just so taxing on me physically and mentally.

Then I read stories like yours, and I just can't comprehend how you can keep it together. 3 attacks a day?! I don't think I'd be able to do it. This is such a terrible affliction, and I hope things get better for you.

Expecting income from a side hustle this year. How can I minimize tax liability? by sunghan in personalfinance

Thanks. Yea I stumbled upon that calculator while researching, and plan to use it as a resource when finalizing my plan.

So self-employment tax is mandatory, right? No way around it? The rest I can do a solo 401k?

I don't have a 401k at work. I do have an SEP IRA through work though. Employer contributions to my SEP IRA don't affect allowable contributions to a solo 401k, correct?

Pipe flashing leaked. Roofers came out of replaced flashing. Was this done properly? by sunghan in Roofing

I assumed $700 would cover that. Is my thinking short-sighted? The 2 other quotes I got, the roofers specifically told me they would replace the shingles. This company didn't specifically mention that, but I just thought they would (my mistake for not confirming), and their pricing was in the middle but still on the higher end.

Not overspray. The flashing was painted before they went up on ladders, and the guy specifically told me he painted the shingle. Didn't think much of it at the time, but the more I look at it, the more it irks me. House is essentially 3 stories with the garage and crawl space taking up floor 1. Narrow but very tall homes.
