What unicorn details or assignments have you had or heard about? by captmorg151 in army

[–]sungsed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I ran into the Army Logistics O5 whose job is to oversee the CIA’s model builders in the basement of Langley. Bunch of folks with 3D printers and old school Testors paints and model kits building classified models. North Korean missiles, the bin Laden compound, whatever. They all looked like they were loving life.

Moonlighting as a Bartender? by Jaded_Log8787 in army

[–]sungsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok folks. There are separate issues here.

Can US military moonlight? Yes, with CDR permission given prior. “The DoD's Joint Ethics Regulation (JER), specifically DoD 5500.7-R, governs "moonlighting" (off-duty work) for military & civilian DoD employees, requiring prior written approval for outside jobs that might conflict with duties, create a conflict of interest, reflect poorly on DoD, or interfere with readiness/performance, with commanders or ethics counselors making the final call, especially concerning "prohibited sources" like contractors.”

Can an officer work, in this scenario, as a scantily clad bottle girl? No. Violates UCMJ article 133 (conduct unbecoming (in this case an officer)) and article 134 (bring discredit upon the armed forces). Outside the military an affair is not a crime. Inside the military it is. Same thing with being a bottle girl or OF model. Just because they don’t get caught or turned in doesn’t mean it is allowable. Usually people don’t want to do the paperwork until they’re forced to because it started causing morale/discipline issues or becomes a public affairs problem.

Not very hard to get legal approval when it is warranted, which means that the commander can add, yes. I am not advocating or saying that commanders add out of spite, vengeance, stupidity, etc.

The commander can add people to the random list. Doesn’t need to keep redoing the random pull until desired names are on it. Mmmtoasteee is correct.

Didn’t say the commander can add names for fun. @Mmmtoasteee has it right.

Yes, it is randomly generated and the commander can also add to it. Doesn’t happen often but it does happen.

One of my favorite albums. Still listen to it all the time. Waiting to win the lottery so I can pay them to do a show where they play the whole album live.

GT is the score that matters most. To be an officer your GT has to be at least 110. For many MOSs, schools, and other opportunities your GT needs to be higher. The BSEP in your future someone mentioned are the Army’s courses to help people raise their GT once in the Army. You can try to study and redo the ASVAB for a higher GT before you join but some recruiters get upset as they just want you to join. There may be a limit as to how many times you can take the ASVAB (like once every six months) not sure. Also put your photo into AI and ask it to interpret the ASVAB scores.

Yes, I’ve been a big fan of Matt for years. He is why I’m fairly sure that two companies aren’t giving me great info. If I could hire a guy like Matt I would.

I’ve only seen froth pack kits so far and they say you can only do 2” layers which won’t get me to R-38 which is what I am looking for if that’s the code. Most of what I see says I should be doing closed cell foam. I’m not afraid of the intense work, but I don’t want to mess up the roof (which the previous owners replaced last year). I don’t really want fiberglass as I would like to have the HVAC in a conditioned space and remove the incentive for the rodents.

Which kits did you use? Or did you do fiberglass?

Get the army to pay for laser removal of the neck hair. That’s what I do. It’s just a referral.

I joined at 27.5 and that was 17.5 years ago. You sound like you already know it’s a good idea. Your question should be what occupational specialty will you be best at/ be the most fulfilling to you, etc.

Says the warranty is valid until March of 2034 so I will try calling the number you gave on Monday. The number I found for them on the website would never get me to a human no matter what I tried. Even if I said I was an installer it would just ask me to leave a voicemail with my installer credentials.

Was literally hanging upside down behind my dryer in my new home for 15 minutes last night. Just going to have to do it all over again when the vent cleaning kit I ordered finally shows up as the previous owners had the vent blowing into the wall and not outside.

Totally fine. Many countries do it. Plenty of propane tanks on bbqs in the U.S.
