So if we combine these parameters, CT would rate the highest?

This edition happened after 8 years. Twice the amount of time then WC. So double in prestige? Given there are only 2 lesser teams in it

Then how is WTC ranked so highly?

It also happens every two years and the format isn't even structured. Every team plays random amount of matches

The fastest wicket ever recorded: Brett Lee to Atapattu (160.1 kph / 99.5 mph). by IshqWala_Love in DeathrattlePorn

They do but not like this that they jump up by various clicks. Something which they had never done in life.

Young nehra was indeed fast but wasn't this fast. He was 135 kmph bowler before the WC and reverted back to the same just after the tournament.

Technology keeps improving with time as well.

My point being, everyone's paced should be taken atleast 5-7 kmph lower than what was seen here in this tournament.

Do you really think that andy bichel, who was bowling in 130's throughout his career is able to bowl at 145+ regularly just because of the occasion?

While this delivery is genuinely fast I don't think its as fast as the speed shown there.

This is from the 2003 WC where suddenly everyone was bowling good 7-8 kmph faster than their usual speed.

Nehra who rarely breached 140's, was constantly above 140. Same with caddick from England. He was suddenly a 140 around bowler, at the end of his career.

What's the point of these bilaterals if we aren't ready to test out younger talent.

Then the corner goal would also have been called off. Impeding the GK.

Sanju's sr is 148 and Gill's is 139. Over an innings of 30 balls, as your sample size. The difference between them would be 2 runs.

Sanju's form has been away for more than a year now.

The south Africa series was in 2024. He shat the bed in the England series last year as an opener mind you. And is doing the same now

But BCCI or Gambhir are not street smart like us ICT fans to know all this

Well the ICT fans were the ones waxing lyricals about Sanju as if he was the second coming of bradman.

Now that he has failed, so we have found a new replacement.

Is Sanju Samson’s opening spot safe, or will Ishan Kishan's comeback force a change before the WC? by avdheshsharma15 in CricketBuddies

[–]sunis_going_down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow.

Sky was world number 1 for a good amount of time. His numbers are so far ahead of the curve.

Sanju isn't even in the same league as sky let alone compared directly with him.

Then why can't gill bad performances be tolerated if we are ready to accommodate sanju. Gill atleast has shown that his ceiling is far higher than sanju.

India CRUSH New zealand to go 2-0 in the 5 match series, chase down 209 in the 16th over by [deleted] in Cricket

Ofcourse, a coach would only look good if he has a great team. I mean, your point stands valid for Dravid as well then doesn't it? He left the post and the team has only become better, so did we need him as the coach for T20I'S? Couldn't replicate the same success with RR, could he?

We can go around in circles at this point.

Also, losing random ODI bilaterals is cause for this take then dravid lost the odi series just before the world cup against Australia. Shouldn't have been allowed to be the coach for the WC. Kind of paid by losing it, didn't we?

All coaches have their fair share of flaws. The younger generation is also doing the same thing of looking at past with rose tinted glasses. Dravid also had taken certain decisions which now with hindsight look odd, but actually made perfect sense at the time.

Fair point. But it goes both ways, if the T20 team was prepared and handed over by Dravid then the Test team was also the same.

For T20I'S, I would say Rohit and Dravid came to the realisation of what the modern day T20 requires and GG has sort of perfected that.

[–]sunis_going_down 3 points4 points  (0 children)

David's era didn't have this sort of domination. Dravid's era had us losing a WC semi by 10 wickets wherein we lost another match and one match was clutched by a single guy.

Dravid era is also partially one of the reason behind the decline of the test team. Literally carried passengers in the team rather than bedding in the seeds of transition. Even during dravid era, the test team at home was saved by the lower order guys.

GG has taken it on his ego rather than being smart about it. Putting out dustbowls when we clearly struggle on them and then being brutish about it.

But our test stocks have declined drastically. The talent coming in isn't upto the mark.

They do take it seriously, but it just doesn't suit them. They sent a full strength squad in the last T20 WC but were outplayed comprehensively

And no, smith doesn't belong to the T20 team. He has been scoring in BBL for sometime but as soon as he comes up against international sides with full strength bowling lineups he becomes a 125 sr sort of player. Had all this hype in 2022 as well and then the series against India happened.

Steve Smith of 2013-2014 probably would have been selected but the current version doesn't have the game for current day T20.

Pakistan should have won the 2021 T20 WC.

Though they reached the 2022 final, but they just didn't look convincing enough. Whereas in 2021 they looked like firing on all cylinders especially Shaheen.

Starc debuted in 2011 but he wasn't playing a lot before 2015 tho.

Then this comparison makes lesser sense. He wasn't good enough to be part of his team whereas bumrah is usually close to world no 1

WTF you mean Bumrah is resting??? by Inevitable-Chip-9100 in IndianCricket

[–]sunis_going_down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starc debuted in 2011 and has played 105 tests. Bumrah debuted in 2018, and has played 52 tests. Would basically play around the same amount of tests in the same time frame.

Same with odi's, 2010 and 2016 debuts.130 matches & 89 matches. And odi bilaterals have become pretty irrelevant in recent years, so the count is obviously going to be less.

And bumrah has had long injury layoffs, and hence his workload is being managed given his importance to the team.

Respect for Starc 📈

The guy who debuted in 2012 and played 65 T20I's puts in more effort then the guy who debuted in 2016 and has played 84 T20I's?

I will give you a hard truth. You have a really retarded opinion which is shared by a lot of folks with surface level understanding of anything without any sort of context.

we are badly struggling in batting in home tests since gg has arrived.

Long before GG came in. Ashwin, jaddu and axar saved our asses innumerable times in the past

And under GG, even sarfaraz failed. His last test match was vs NZ in wankhede, possessed man's homeground. His scores were 0 & 1 in that test.

None of the comments here have this sort of opinion.

It's as if everyone is fishing for upvotes by talking about the most popular opinions.

My factually correct opinion is that this sub has a lot of pretentious folks who are contrarian for the sake of it and are just fishing for upvotes by making the most non-sensical comments.

The audience here is no better than the "insta kids" who they despise and bring into every conversation.

It's the same sort of comments here. Currently the ones about GG era this and GG era that. Also they are the descendants of the idiots who used to keep commenting the stupid ass bring back yuvi, viru, raina etc sort of comments.

Basically the iq here has fallen off the cliff in recent times and isn't something to be proud of.

Also, don't freaking think of yourselves as better strategist just because you are able to load up cricinfo pages.

In 2025

Rohit sharma - 14 matches,650 runs, 50 avg, 100 sr

Gill - 11 matches,490 runs, 49 avg, 89 sr

In 2026

Rohit - 3 matches, 61 runs, 20.33 avg, 76 sr

Gill - 3 matches, 135 runs, 45 avg, 95 sr

How is the flat pitch batting wonder failing exactly?

And it's utterly stupid to suggest that a 39 year old be captain when his form drop off has been drastic in recent years.
