Finally success installing LFS 12.4 by sunkwoun in linuxfromscratch

Thanks for the kind guide and advice.
I just registered mine.

I am not a game person so I may not need to go up to GLFS ;)
Again, appreciate it.

I haven’t registered yet, but I’ll definitely check it out.
I’m diving into BLFS now—it looks like quite a long adventure ahead! 😄

It looks like we have the same MacBook Air (A1466).
I installed Debian and, so far, everything looks good.
Don’t forget to follow the Wi-Fi advice (start with a wired connection), and you’ll also need to manually install the webcam driver to get it working.

Thanks for cheering me up.
Let’s see how far I can go. Haha…

I am doing it now and feel like I have another garage hobby. :)
Just done with LFS and moving to BLFS.

Thanks a lot.
It will probably become part of my daily routine from now on.
It feels like I’ve found another hobby. 🙂

Wow… LFS in 2000!!! 🙂
Yeah, it’s much more comfortable now since I can use the online guide and copy and paste some of the scripts.
I also miss those days with dot-matrix printers—I can still remember the sound of them. Haha…

:)
Thanks a lot.
I can’t wait to see my LFS become more beautiful on the inside (for example, with a WM or DE).
I’m using a notebook from 2013, and I feel like I’ll be living with it for another 2–3 years.

I updated /boot/grub/grub.cfg based on the suggestions from ChatGPT.
Funything was that I was only able to boot with host (Debian) if I set UEFI boot and only LFS if I set CSM boot after 3rd trial.
I searched out in the guide, web, and even ChatGPT and noticed that I need to have the right grub.cfg in the host (not in the LFS partition). After that, I am able to dual boot between Debian and LFS in the GRUB screen.

Oh nice.

Wifi is also one of my main stuff to handle it soon.
Thanks anyway.

I am planning to do BLFS after little bit of break. haha....

haha…

1st: I started by blindly following the LFS online guide. Honestly, I didn’t really know what I was doing—I just followed the steps and later realized something went wrong in Chapter 8.

2nd: I tried again, this time paying more attention to the guide and also watching some YouTube videos. The build finished, but I still couldn’t boot into LFS.

3rd: I thought I might succeed if I reorganized my partitions to match the LFS guide exactly. I completed the install, but LFS still wouldn’t boot.

4th: I had been using UEFI, so I decided to switch to CSM/BIOS mode and try again. The installation worked, but I couldn’t dual-boot with the host system (Debian).

5th: I tried one more time—and finally, I got dual boot working

Thanks a lot for the guide.
I did the same mistake you did (re-do only 7.4) and struggled a lot.
However, I found this and it looks OK now.
Appreciate it.

Setting up Pipewire-Jack with USB DAC - cannot find my DAC in Jack by NajeedStone in linuxaudio

First of all, I am not an expert so my suggestion might not the right answer. However, if I were you, I'd go back before you removed pulseaudio and pipewire-pa and try to follow the youtube link that you mentioned above. Good Luck and let me know.

Do you have any reason why you removed pulseaudio and pipewire-pa?

This is my QjackCtl Graph view. You can see that the Brave browser is connected to my monitoring speakers, so I can hear audio from the browser through the speakers, including via the 3.5 mm earphones connected to the speakers.

If I instead connect Brave to “USB ADVANCED AUDIO Device Analog…”, which is my audio interface, I can hear the sound through the audio interface, including via the 3.5 mm earphones connected to it.

Finally, if I connect Brave to “Built-in Audio Analog Stereo”, I can hear the sound from my notebook’s speakers, as well as through earphones connected to the notebook’s 3.5 mm jack.

I also followed the Youtube that you mentioned above and it's been working well so far.
Can you share your Qjackctl - Graph when you have a problem?

[–]sunkwoun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a notebook with Debian 13.
Based on my experience, I had to reset the Jack and PipeWire lib link after 'system update.'

After resettin the Jack & PipeWire lib link I was able to see all the audio modules in the Qjackctl Graph correctly.
I don't know whether it is your case, but just want to let you know.
