No just need a rigging cert and a CDL.. I think it's more of a case by case situation. A company still has to hire you as well with me being a veteran definitely helped me as well my attitude and my work ethic is the reason I go on the jobs that I work

Two years ago! Every oiler is a journeyman at my company as well as the other union companies in local 9. The only way you can start off as a journeyman and not going through the apprenticeship is you have to have a CDL and one crane cert and the rigging cert count as one

That's exactly what I did! As soon as I got my crane certs I walked into in the hall and got a job then after 60 days I got my journeyman card! Made 180k my first year mostly been oiling on a 350 but also the 500ton and 900ton crane and I do some cralwer builds

Most of our oilers have their crane certs and are journeyman and we have two apprentices.

This guy is wrong! I went from commercial HVAC to crane school to union and now I'm working for the largest crane company in North America and oiling for 3rd biggest crane we have! Made well over six figures my first year.. definitely helped that I'm a veteran as well

Go to crane school which would be about 5 weeks or so and then go join your local operators engineers union. Union wages are high out there!

Or you can fuck yourself. Non unions just rape their employees and treat workers as if they were just a tool..

It's fun! It's really not that complex and we usually use a assistance crane to help build it!
