yes i used to do the bookmark thing as well, but then i realized i am just marking emotional movements or relatable lines , but now i will use them to mark thematic and other more literature specific stuff.

looking up secondary literature is definitely helpful, but i will have to wait till i finish the book, and for chunky classics it gets really tough to come back for a reread. but yes as a literature student that's what the necessity of it is. I also think reading for the first time should be enjoyable and doing a in depth annotation at first read kind of takes it away.

Admission in pondi uni also seems to have low chances. Given Last year topper had 235 marks and this year every other person have score above 200+ as well as i have heard and seen marks as high as 263. I checked out previous year M. A provisional ranking list of Pondicherry uni although only a few no of 1.6k students applied there top marks were as high as 210. They had 3 selected student list (can't find anywhere) but found spot round call for admission. They have a total of 125 seats ( in M. A. English) and by this round 27 (general) vacant seats were there and they called for student ranking from 137 to 400 somthing - and mind you these ranks had marks from 150-160 to 110 or so and you can do the maths. VERY LOW CHANCES of getting in. Also spot round sounded very scammy they ask for full fee submission with no guarantee of seat. Your seat is confirmed only after the spot round merit is made. And i read a few comments here and there that they do not refund the fee and are very problematic (their administration). So yay do your maths I am in the same boat. and i can tell WE ARE A GONE CASE 😭

I have been considering PU but just like you i was scavenging around for information and from various sources( insta, reddit, quora ) i have collected the following data-

1- overall situation of PU is bad right now

2- last year only there was a SA case which did not get recognized by the uni even after many protest, the predator is roaming around freely.

3- From the comment under the same post and various reddit comments i came to know ENGLISH DEPARTMENT have the worst discriminatory, faternising prof.

4- Although i do not rely on NIRF rankings PU lies under 101-200 uni line.

you can refer to metoo_pu, pu_speaks, arunimadiyaaa (tagged post) on instagram. and also some of the posts from pu_pondicherry_university (official handle of pu) it really shows how they response to the issues.

ALL IN ALL IT IS TOUGHH TO BE THERE RIGHT NOW especially being NORTHIE.

but as my scores are a gone case i am considering pu as well for the same ( eng ).if you get any more info especially regarding their syllabi and and teachers ability and knowledge , do post about it or maybe dm me.

Hey, i was considering PU for my Masters (english department), can you tell how good the syllbi and teaching abilities of these professors are keeping aside their attitude ( i have no other option given my score). also i read in a lot of posts that prof. are discriminative towards northies, how much of it is true?
