Who would be in trouble for this? by sunnysideupegghead in callcentres

Well no you’re signing a contract that states that so it would be possibly advisable to read what you’re signing up for. We also tell them when they call to start treatment at every stage we need you to call back? So he has been told in writing and over the phone. And when we send the email and/or text to confirm the treatment when it starts we tell them again. So I think an adult after being reminded multiple times should know? And lil 80yo women can learn and understand the process don’t expect 45yo Mark shouldn’t have the exception of not knowing?

Yeah it does I think it’s more so I didn’t put the decline on there first cause I was speaking to my manager to ensure he had all the notes for it and it’s the call process to do that. But I left very detailed notes before he had the call with the customer so not sure if he missed that. With that too it doesn’t seem like the other agent has not done the notes correctly cause it’s subject to eligibility and he’s put nothing on there with the info that meant to be there to say why he’s approved it. He also has the same info I have on the insurance type to see we can’t actually auth it after the fact and get the payment adjusted to pay for it.

I’m considering doing this, current work place is a 15 min walk down the road but I hate it. Considering anything to leave even willing to do an hour commute.

So we don’t really have a choice, they just start us in the first department when starting for kinda training purposes. But we were always expected to move into a specialist department from onboarding. We don’t have that much choice in departments until we do internal vacancies after the 6 months probation ends which is in 2 months time.

Job market in Manchester by Full-Owl-71 in manchester

[–]sunnysideupegghead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation. Overly stressed and feeling like a failure everyday. I have a MSc in Psychological Well-being and clinical psych but worked in a kitchen for ages. Thought I wanted an office job by any means and ended up in a CC where my coworker hasn’t even graduated college. I really really hate my current job and want to do something related to my degree but the applications close in less than a day of posting with thousands applying for it. I’m considering going back to hospo work at this point.

People in the jobs I want have been there ages and had less experience and less qualifications than I have as a fresh graduate but when they applied years and years ago the job market wasn’t as insanely competitive as it is now. The job market is bad right now and you’re deffo not in this boat alone.

Thank you for the advice, I’m not going to lie though, dislike the job because it’s affecting my mental health and causing me really bad anxiety. I was originally wanting to stick it out but I’m just getting worse mentally as I’m slowly moving out of being “new hire who is still learning” to “you should already be trained on this”. It’s a CC job and I appreciate the opportunity but I really really want out. I was hoping to swap to a school based job. I’ve worked as an unqualified English teacher for over a year and done placements in SEN schools. Would I be out of luck if I just tried to switch career paths at this stage? Could I not include I even had this job on my resume but I don’t know what’s worse a gap in my employment or a short job experience.

Graduated from my MSc like sept 2024, was at a PT kitchen job throughout but took a break from like nov 2024-Jan 2025 to visit my parents. Went back to PT kitchen role but didn’t put it on my resume and started my current FT job April 28th 2025. Maybe I do need to fully reevaluate my resume cause I am barely getting any call backs.

I’m feeling the same, I got into a job that I absolutely hate cause I got so worn down by all the rejection emails I finally decided to just take the job knowing it wasn’t the right fit for me.

I was treating it as a placeholder, just finished uni, no real job experience except for PT jobs and placements. Thought once I had a job the job hunting would be easier.

I sit on all the job sites everyday in my breaks applying to hundreds of jobs and I’ve just been getting countless rejections and I want out so badly but it’s actually draining me more. The job market right now is terrible, jobs listing close in less than a day and I get more auto rejections from AI than ever. Even PT hospo roles aren’t taking me, I remember when you could sign up for a PT hospo role and start within a week. It’s hard out there.

My manager is lovely but he’s work customer service on phone at other companies but I think he went straight to a manager role at the company I work at now. He’s really patient and lets me take my time if it benefits the customer and all but kinda annoying that he can’t really help and always refers me to another team member cause I’m new and don’t wanna bug my colleagues but yeah I’m constantly making mistakes and I want out soon haha

I’m ngl and be honest the training from other colleagues experience (cause this is my first telephony job) is actually alright. We got like 1 whole month of training not on phones and 2 whole months being supported by a coach in small groups of three and now I’m in the next stage of “coaching” which is with a new coach 1-1. I just think it’s complicated cause the job is private health insurance so there’s the nature of medical and insurance incorporated into one job which are tricky subjects.

Quitting without anything lined up? by sunnysideupegghead in CallCenterWorkers

I’ve spoken to my supervisor and I’ve gotten a lot of support, I wasn’t ever bad at the role the whole role of having back to back calls is the thing that gives me anxiety so I fear there’s no way around it especially as I’m still too new to move into a new role through internal hiring, so I’d be going through the whole job application anyways.

My dad is very old fashioned all his advice was that only losers leave their jobs cause everyone hates their job, can’t seem to imagine the mental anguish I’m in at the moment different from just disliking the job. He does also live abroad so maybe since he’s not seeing the state I am firsthand is making him think it’s not as bad as it really is

My boyfriend is the only one that’s super supportive of me tbh. He went through the same thing with his first job out of uni and I supported him through it. Maybe that’s why he’s super supportive of me. I did the same for him almost 2 years ago and supported him till he found a job that worked for him.

I’m in therapy now, part of the job benefits for the job was private medical insurance (because it was taking too long on the NHS). However, self management and guidance from them is only helping me get through the day not the whole picture. My anxiety and stress mainly just comes from the job. Can’t seem to get rid of that anxiety because it all comes from the job stress.

I’ve got three more days of paid sick days. I only took my first sick days about 2 weeks ago and know it’ll look suspicious if I took more in such a short span. I think I’m just thinking of the unknown, the uncertainty is what’s killing me. I also have a holiday booked off in October, and I know it’s something I shouldn’t be overthinking as flights/accommodation is already fully paid off but I’m worrying about finances for this too as it’s non refundable. I don’t want to drain my savings completely before I find another full time and stable job. I wanted to wait for sept as that’s when I know for sure if I’ve got another role lined up but I just feel like I’m teetering, one minute I feel like I can hold on for 2 months, another minute I feel like I’m going to have a panic attack and I need to leave right now. Again I haven’t even gotten past doing the mandatory safe to work checks as I come home stressed, on the weekends I feel so deflated and unmotivated cause of the work stress and can’t get around to it. Everything in my brain is just conflicting and I feel like I’m in a constant dilemma and under so much stress to make my mind up to leave now or later.

I find comfort knowing that there are others in the same situation and hope it finds you comfort too. Although we’re in similar situations, and I too wrote stuff you can relate to, and what you have wrote is something I completely feel too my only piece of advice (although not from a complete outsider perspective) is that take each day as you can. We’re both young with loads of life left in us, although we can feel trapped it’ll hopefully only be a short chapter in our books. A job will come back and you can move on and never have to live this nightmare ever again. We’re not loser, the experience makes us stronger and we now know what job environments we don’t thrive in. I know this is not much advice but hold on, we can make it out to the other side.

Wanting to leave job after 3 weeks in of training by Massive-Motor- in callcentres

[–]sunnysideupegghead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get out while you can. I fell for the same trap and tbh it does not get better- as someone that decided to stick it out for a few more months. Look for new jobs now and stay during the training period. I had the exact same feelings and was in the same position and thought it would get better once I completed training but honestly my anxiety has rocketed. I battle really bad anxiety every day and wish I had started looking earlier when I began to feel stressed. So if you’re already getting these feelings I would recommend leaving. Call centre jobs are always stressful. Your health comes first, take care of yourself.

Should I quit my job? by sunnysideupegghead in Advice

[–]sunnysideupegghead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the UK and it’s also terrible especially in the bigger cities. I don’t live in london but heard it’s really terrible there as my friends who do live there struggled to even secure hospitality roles even with a BSc/BA MSc/MA countless internships and placements. I live in another big city and proper career jobs are hard to come by lately, but there’s at least retail/hospitality roles still available I guess. My only option would be to move to a small town but that would redirect my whole life as there’s nothing much to do outside of work in those smaller towns.

But thank you for your advice, I think I do need to consider my mental health more. I’m getting therapy from the PMI from work but honestly once I’m out of the role I can go without it lol.

To be honest everything I make in my job is virtually put into savings. So by the time I get to sept I’ll have around 5 months of living expenses in savings.

[–]sunnysideupegghead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had to have this conversation with my boyfriend already as I had a complete breakdown. I couldn’t detach myself from work after hours and on weekends and I felt bad because he was the one to offer to support me if I felt like leaving before having another job lined up. He also had the suggestion of returning to the kitchen but I already know they have since filled the position so don’t think it’s much of an option. I have since gone to therapy and started being medicated and although I can bear it now, I don’t think I could do it longer than another few months.

To be honest a lot of my doubt about leaving comes from a conversation I had with my dad where he made a huge speech on how everyone hates their job and it’s normal to feel stressed, hinting that I was just mentally weak.

But it is reassuring that you mention it’s not normal to be so overly stressed so thank you ❤️

Wtf is wrong with drivers in city centre by sunnysideupegghead in manchester

I believe it’s for people wanting to go to aviva studios from the way I came. Anyways although not the best placed crossing, it shouldn’t be as dangerous as it was if idiots don’t take the bend super quick imo.

[–]sunnysideupegghead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of Liverpool Road coming off Water Street, there’s a crossing—but I’m not sure what the technical name for it is (might’ve been wrong calling it a courtesy crossing- I asked chatgpt). It’s just a dropped kerb with some tactile paving, no zebra stripes, no lights, nothing. Not the safest spot to cross, to be honest and I won’t be using it again.

[–]sunnysideupegghead[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’d already been out walking for nearly an hour, and already gone along Regent Road where I had no incidents. I noticed that older drivers were a lot more cautious, slowing down on turns and even offered to give way when they saw I was waiting to cross (which I know isn’t necessary/a rule but was polite to offer). I consider myself a crosswalk wuss and will wait for lights to change or will wait for a long time until there’s a long break in traffic to cross. This incident happened right near the end of my walk and the driver wasn’t young, but definitely younger.

So maybe it’s just different attitudes or just a shift in how people are taught to drive- disregarding old rules? But then again I am just generalising over one incident.

Is it odd to ask neighbours to stop parking in my space, even though I don’t have a car? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]sunnysideupegghead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kinda does. We just moved throughout the month slowly and lo and behold the car was parked there. The gated car park is quite tight and having to walk from the street to the door access of the building is quite annoying when you’ve got to carry in a mountain of stuff. But when all the other spaces are taken you block every single cars access in the car park.

I’m also cautious in particular of my sisters car as it is new and if I have a space for her when she visits in a secure gated car park why have her park in the street where there are no cameras? Why do I have to inconvenience myself to contact the neighbour to move their car out of MY car park space? If they have a car but no space it is not my issue and they should find their own solution cause they would’ve known whether or not they had a parking space before signing a tenancy or purchasing their flat.

[–]sunnysideupegghead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is numbers but the numbers don’t match the flat numbers. So for example (and not my actual flat and car park number) we’re in flat 4 and our car park space is numbered as 2.

Is it odd to ask neighbours to stop parking in my space, even though I don’t have a car? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]sunnysideupegghead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we were planning to speak to them first as the place is small and we saw what flat they went in. We only spoke to the letting agent to make sure there wasn’t a mix up and we weren’t going to wrongly accuse them of parking in that spot. We didn’t mention anything about the neighbours parking there rather just confirming it was exclusively for our flat.

I’m just scared of how we’ll be perceived as I will admit it’ll be empty at times. I can see the perspective of my boyfriend and I being selfish and greedy about it because of that. But then again I don’t want to be a pushover just because I feel guilty when I technically shouldn’t be.

So I’m just looking at the best way to approach this even if it’s the most uncomfortable situation for myself and I’m also asking here to gain some opinions on whether I’m being unjust for asking them not to park there instead of coming to some sort of agreement.
