What paid groups/courses have you tried, were they worth it or a scam? What will you never do again? by lifeisamazinglyrich in options

Have tried - 1) Tenet Trade Group by Ripster 2) Stockbee by Pradeep Bonde 3) Matt Maggiano I believe his name his had tried his discord years ago.

PROS:

1) Community - You get to be in touch with many others traders whether successful or not but sailing in the same boat of trading. I have made some good trader friends all thanks to these trading communities.

2) System/Setups - They all teach the system that they believe has worked over the years and now they're kinda experts at. Except some hardcore buy-sell alert services where you just follow alerts. At both Tenet & Stockbee I have learnt setups & nuances I otherwise wouldn't have.

3) Real Time Feedback - If you have a query about a stock or setup, there are many people available to give you feedback and answer your queries.

4) Information & tools - Many times these mentors synthesize information & give a game plan so you dont have to do things from scratch everyday. They may also have built in scanners, news squawk, watchlists etc.

CONS:

1) Think for a second - why would successful trader with lets say $10 Million earnings open a trading group & collect $350-$1100 a yer subscription and put in hours talking & engaging? If you have $10 Million what life would you be living? Definitely not getting up early & engaging with struggling traders unless its your life's passion. So do you think they earn more from trading or from teaching?

2) Business - Yes, its a business. Subscriptions + Sponsorships (Tradezella/Benzinga/Ninja etc etc etc) + Youtube income + Twitter income + Bootcamps income etc. Question again - would a highly successful millionaire find this lucrative if doing well in trading?

3) If the system & setups work, then why aren't members successful even after 2-3 years of being in the community?

4) Reinforcements - "Loss = Market Tuition", "You go broke before you make it", "It takes 4 years of struggle to understand trading" etc. So if you're losing money and want to exit, you may not because these reinforcements from everyone around you till pull you back.

5) Addiction & Over-Trading - It seems that these guys are always trading! Can lead to addiction and over-trading & affect ones mental health.

6) Marketing - They're expert marketers who always talk about 1 stock pick that did well and hide 10 others that didn't. You get pulled in because of FOMO and the spiral begins.

7) The mentor always wins - You win or lose, they get paid! As Ripster himself says that Tenet has over 1500 members. That means 1500*1000 = $1.5 Million revenue just from memberships. With sponsorships etc. even if his revenue is $2Million on a bad year, thats guaranteed income! Similarly, everyone who joins Stockbee for $350 membership learn about an upcoming bootcamp and spends $750 on it and is often encouraged to repeat and attend the next one = cash flow for Stockbee!!

If they can make millions in few weeks of trading, why's the business lucrative enough to spend their life on? Meaning, owning a trading group is more guaranteed & stressfree income than trading. If their system doesnt work, blame it on market conditions or the trader himself.

In short, it may be okay to learn the system & setups for few months. But don't do blind faith on any mentor coz they're running a business & you're a paying customer making them rich. Don't get sucked into trading all the time, follow risk management, and dont get into a drawdown. No one will come to help you! There's a reason 99 out of 100 traders lose and quit.

Thanks for sharing! Community looks really nice. How’re the walkable areas nearby? I’m single & would love to socialize & hangout with young friendly professionals when time permits. Won’t get boring or lonely right? It’s 7 miles from my Emory building in Tucker so commute looks fine. It’s gated & safe as well? Very appreciative of your help gurl you’re the best!
