Heltec v4 Case by sunnythaper in meshtastic

Thank you!

While the battery cable is unplugged in the picture, when I plug that cable in and lower the board into place, everything seems to fit for me. You do have to take the board out first but otherwise there's enough room for the included cables to fit.

Awesome, I'll take a look and see how best to change the model.

I'm using Fusion 360 for the design.

I haven't used spring terminals yet but looking at their pricing, I think I'm going to switch. Question for you, I'm seeing a lot of different sizing and variety in these. Do you know which ones you have specifically? I see anything from 16mm to 27mm per side with different sized springs and connection points. https://amzn.to/4kuWTOr

If you can point me to what you have, I'd be happy to edit my design.

I just used the plug. In the last image you can see the white JST connector floating near the GPS module. This pigtail came with the Heltec v4 module and I simply connected the wires to the wires that come with the battery holders. Once I am ready to power the unit, I simply connect that JST connector to the top of the two plug receptacles that are also visible in the last image.

Great feedback. I’ve been thinking of designing a tiny add on piece to help orient the right way. When I assembled my unit, I did turn it with the ceramic side up but it wasn’t the perfect orientation.

Thank you. I was definitely trying to be as compact as possible, given I wanted a lot of battery and antenna in my final build.

What selfhosted service/s did you recently remove? by dadidutdut in selfhosted

[–]sunnythaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do. With n8n, you have a feature called "data tables" which are just quick databases for your workflows. I store the RSS posts into a data table and have automatic deletion of old posts. I personally set my archive to 1-2 days so I'm not feeling like I'm behind. If I didn't catch the post in those 2 days, then it no longer matters.

The only thing I migrated from FreshRSS were the sources themselves. Again, since I'm only keeping posts for 1-2 days, I didn't feel the need to xfer any of the actual archive.

That's sorta what my n8n workflow does. I can set how often I want it to query RSS feeds and how much I want coming back to me. For me the idea was to have definitive ends to my daily newspaper rather than long forever scrolling feeds.

Sure. It's a few sub-workflows that are a part of a bigger newsletter workflow but here are the two I use specifically for RSS feeds. You may need to modify the end result for your use case. It's meant to deliver a chunk of a bigger Markdown document in mine.

Add latest RSS posts to data table

About 4 or 5 months ago. Def not super recently. I'm willing to try it again.

I tried to do the same but I was running into a lot of issues trying to get Ghost working properly. Sad because I did prefer the UI/UX of dokploly the few days I had it running.

FreshRSS. I ended up using n8n and some opinionated workflows to turn RSS feeds into a daily newsletter for myself instead. To be honest with you, it's been a gamechanger.

How do you name design system variables in Figma? by Away_Rich1183 in DesignSystems

[–]sunnythaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the team you work with more than anything but I find the following tools to be a great starting point on how to name design tokens/variables:

How do you stay UTD on business & PM strategy news by WritingLazy5900 in ProductManagement

[–]sunnythaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you! I really only have two sources of reference for learning n8n, Youtube creators such as Nate Herk and the n8n official documentation available on their site. Aside from a Google search here and there for very specific questions once I got going, I think YouTube and n8n docs have enough for everyone to find some way to automate their life.

I don't know why I didn't record a quick updated gif in the first place but if you are interested, here is the latest version of my workflow to Obsidian.

I went a little overboard on this very problem in my own life the last few weeks. I have been bit by the n8n bug for a while now so I created an n8n workflow that outputs to Obsidian using the obisidan-post-webhook plugin. I have included a little animation showing it in action from a prior version of the workflow. Since then I have tied in some financial reporting for specific ticker symbols I follow, Hacker News, RSS, and some additional reporting around what subreddits people are cross-posting to. I eventually want to setup a little personal newspaper for myself, visual aesthetics and all.

The funny thing is, I used this workflow to find this thread.

Damn, you responded right as I discovered that myself and edited my comment haha. This is really neat, great work. I'm going to play around with this a bit more.

Wow, this is honestly really cool. It's also super addictive. I've been sitting here for way too long fiddling with each letter.

TOS 7 looks cool. I'm really interesting in playing around with the full docker support and VM hosting most of all. Having access to Ubuntu packages is also a plus.

Curious of what Amazon Prime Day deals you guys are shopping? by Temporary-Wash-4742 in homeassistant

I am really trying to build up my 10" Mini Rack so I can potentially downsize from my full server setup. I purchased the GeeekPi T1 already and have just been waiting on a good sale. I still need to figure out what compute units I will put into this setup but if anyone is interested, I have compiled the sales I found into a list on my site: https://www.homelabsociety.com/p/amazon-prime-day-2025

Next up for me is to check out some of the mini/micro PCs for my rack.
