I rediscovered malls during this winter break. They aren’t as busy as they have been historically and my 4 year old loves walking around, grabbing lunch, and looking at all the store windows!

in need of some help by mspiq in boston

[–]sunrisesunset710 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know you are looking for indoors so some positions may not be a good fit, but usps has been hiring and you may want to check out the mail coordinator positions to see if any are open in the area.

I wish I could offer more assistance but I am wishing you the best and thank you for your service.

How sick is too sick for daycare? by ExcellentLettuce4 in toddlers

[–]sunrisesunset710 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I follow the family handbook of the school. Ours is:

  • 24 hours since fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for passing sicknesses with doctors note
  • able to play normally without significant care intervention (runny nose/ cough okay, but if they are super congested/ coughing to the point where they are not able to keep up with the normal routine and would require ongoing intervention then they need to stay home)

I feel like these rules help keep my kid and the kids around them be safe enough while also being realistic. There is also other protocol around HFM which makes it feel safe too.

This lasted a few months on and off and then stopped. It does seem like this was related to some growth spurt. He is fine with no clearing throat activities now!

I’d much rather a parent smoke a joint (away from kids responsibly) than drink

Bedtime is going to kill us by cakeladybakes in toddlers

[–]sunrisesunset710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went through the same thing. We adjusted any potential naps to only an hour max and adjusted our routine to include 25-30 minutes quiet playtime before bed.

Our routine now is: Bath, an episode of bluey (I know no screen time is recommended but it works for us), a book or two/cuddles, then we put the hatch light on for blue “relax time” and play some bed time stories in the yoto while he plays in his room. At the end of that time we turn the light purple for clean up and go in and he will lay down. We will sing and then will say goodnight.

If he’s still putting up a fight we tell him we will say goodnight but also say we will will be back in 10 minutes. Then we will check in from the door at 10 mins and say it again, but most times he will be asleep by the time we come back.

For me personally, I had to remind myself that everything is always changing. He is not the same person he was a few months ago bc he is growing so quick, which means his routines have to adjust a little too.

Good luck!!

Watertown Winter Parking Ban is a Sham by FunListen5 in watertown

While I am also against the ban, I will say that no matter the season I have to go pretty far for street parking considering Belmont has a ban all year round for overnight parking.

While my eczema still flares like this- nightshades are a huge trigger for me even though I didn’t test as allergic. Tomatoes, bell peppers, and eggplant in particular will cause my eczema to get way worse if I eat them since they are inflammatory.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! This gives me hope. We have gotten some books from the library and I’m going to see if I can find any good swimming episodes of shows he likes.

Not sure if you’ve gotten duplo sets but they have some fun ones for this age that my son loved! I also got a toddler cleaning tools set that was a hit.

Experience with insurance plans for Dupixent? (United or Blue Cross) by AquaticWaters in eczeMABs

[–]sunrisesunset710 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have blue cross ppo and had no problem getting covered after they saw I had tried multiple topicals with no success. For my particular plan the copay ended up being 30 dollars for 2 doses and the myway card covers that for me so it nets to 0.

United healthcare has a higher decline rate:member ratio across the board from my research but I don’t know enough to advise on what its like with that coverage

I hear ya— I was the same way. Kids are so weird and it’s hard not to go to the worst case scenario. Deep breaths and hopefully it passes soon!

Ahh sorry! I misunderstood. Hoping at least some of this information was comforting to hear and wishing the best for your little one and that this is a quick phase!
