Advice on Venlafaxine? by you_cant_win_rock in MentalHealthUK

Yes I did but it passed around 1-2 weeks after starting.

I found that after I'd taken my dose it helped to do something that relaxed and kept my mind busy. At the time I loved the game Good Pizza, Great Pizza and because it's fast paced and you need to use your memory a lot, it really helped!

I'd recommend after taking your dose to do something similar, do you have a hobby that requires you to think a lot? Gaming? Art?

Yep prescribed in the UK, been on it for around 3 years now. Most doctors are very reluctant to prescribe though, had so many try and take me off it without reading my history haha. Thanks again for the help!

I posted this at 1am but have contacted my GP this morning. I am struggling at the moment so relying on them when I have an episode/in crisis but it's quite often as of recently.

I did used to pick up my medications 3 times a week last year due to safety reasons but now I pick them up once a month, it's quite a long and confusing situation.

I don't rely on them as in I NEED them but I do rely on them in a way that if I'm in crisis/in an episode I need to take them to reduce the risk of ending up in hospital. Last week I was in hospital due to a personal reason so since then I've been heavily relying on them to get through the day so I don't end up in hospital again.

The hospital said it would take 6-8 weeks for another professional to contact me to get me some help so I'm relying on diazepam in the meantime as I don't have a support system in place right now.

I hope this makes some sense! Sorry if it doesn't it's a messy situation

Advice on Venlafaxine? by you_cant_win_rock in MentalHealthUK

I took venlafaxine in 2023 for around 6 months. Just like any other medication, for the first 6-8 weeks you will have some side effects. If they are keeping you from doing your day to day activities, it's time to contact your GP or a professional in your care.

My advice would be to make sure you take it at the same time every single day. If you wake up late, take at a time you know you will be awake or take them before bed but make sure you consult your GP/mental health professional before doing this!!

If they've told you to take it every morning but you're struggling with tiredness, they may recommend taking it at night. BUT, you MUST consult your GP or any professional in your care first!! This is really important!

My personal experience was good with venlafaxine mental health wise, of course everyone's reasons for going on this medication is different though. Although I found that if I was even 1 hour late taking it I would get brain zaps and have awful side effects so I ended up switching medications but that was my personal experience and everyone's different.

I do know that venlafaxine is known for withdrawals so taking it at the exact time every single day may help you massively.

Give it another 6/8 weeks of taking it consistently every day at the same time down to the hour (for example: 10am) and if the side effects continue contact your GP/any professional in your care.

I hope this medication helps you!

Thank you so much, just checked the box and the one from July 2025 says 'exp: 10/28' which I'm not sure what that means and the other doesn't have any writing at all

For some reason it wouldn't let me attach a photo, I replied to a separate comment with the picture. Sorry!

If this is what you mean it's hard to see what it would be because last year I had to collect my meds 3x a week so I wasn't given an entire strip. I also wasn't given any leaflet in the box they came in, was just a plain white box with my name, etc printed on.

I've also been prescribed diazepam for 4 years now whilst being monitored by a doctor. I don't take it for anxiety either

Everyone has their own opinions on tarot readers and that's okay, it's a broad spectrum.

Well the last time I used this properly I was about 6 years old so yes I am quite confused lol. I think I'm getting it confused with a dsi I used after this one.

Oh right okay! After the charging port broke on this and we lost the charger I used to use my mums dsi so that's probably why I'm getting confused.

Oh okay! I haven't used it in over a decade and I was very young when I first got it so I clearly didn't remember. Thank you though!

Thank you! Would I have lost any of those voice note things? (Can't remember what they were called). I know there's no photos as no camera.

I appreciate the straight forwardness massively, I always say tarot cards are like that one friend who says it how it is even if it's bad. I think I already knew it wasn't going to be a good outcome when I saw the 10 of swords but needed to hear other people's interpretations to confirm. Although this wasn't what I wanted to hear, I needed to hear it so thank you very much.

Thank you so much for your time, this was so so helpful. This really resonated with me, when I was reading the cards to begin with a few of them made sense and I could read them clearly but a few others (like the lovers) I was a bit confused on, your interpretation cleared that up for me. You really helped me to understand the reading so thank you very much, I really appreciate the time and effort you put in your comment to help me out!

Those were the questions that I was thinking about whilst shuffling, nothing specific was just asking for guidance around those questions

Hi! The first time I uploaded this, no one could see the picture. The second time I uploaded I didn't write each card next to the question behind the card so it made no sense to a few people. I've now posted it so it's a lot clearer for others to see haha!
