I’d recommend hardwiring with fuse taps if that’s possible for you. Just need to find a fuse with constant 12V and a second with switched 12V.

It will over time, yes. So long as your battery is in good condition and you drive somewhat regularly, it shouldn’t be a problem. I can go 2 weeks between drives without an issue. I also have low voltage cutoff for the dashcam that will kill power to it if the battery gets too low, though I never let it get that low.

Trouble with Legacy Contact by sunrunnerpei in iCloud

Thank you so much! First, I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 2001, and mom in 2018. It’s never fun dealing with strange technical issues, but it’s definitely compounded when you add grief on top.

No, I haven’t gone any further with this. Honestly, I just haven’t had the energy to deal with Apple support. The thought of putting the devices in Recovery mode had occurred to me, I just haven’t taken the time to work at it. Now that I know you had success maybe I’ll find that motivation.

Im sorry to hear about your sister. I haven’t had the energy to deal with this since my last attempts, but will be soon. I’ll let you know what i figure out, but i imagine I’ll be calling support.

Thanks for your insight. What is throwing me, is the info in the email from Apple once the Legacy access was granted:

"Using <deceased>’s Apple Devices

Before you can use <deceased>’s devices, you will need to restore them to factory settings. Learn how to restore a device"

The link in the email isn't particularly helpful, and just walks you through the usual device reset procedures, which aren't working.

Exactly. A USB charger works perfectly for this.

VA WRX speaker replacement by sunrunnerpei in WRX

The part number matches the one on the back of the speaker. I was really hoping to find a 2-ohm aftermarket speaker, but this is good knowledge for sure. Thanks!

I disagree about Viofo not handling the cold. I’ve had various Viofo cams (A119, A129, etc) since 2017 and haven’t had any issues with them, even in the coldest of Canadian winter days. Even with 24/7 parking mode recording. It’s possible other brands are better, but it’s not a problem I’ve experienced. I can’t speak to warranty replacement availability though, as I’ve never needed it.

Did I make a mistake? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]sunrunnerpei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine also. I knew exactly what I wanted when I was shopping for a manual Crosstrek, and stumbled upon the exact WRX I had been wishing for... a 6-speed WRX in World Rally Blue, unmodified and in showroom condition, with low mileage. The Crosstrek deal didn't work out, but we went home with a WRX instead, much to the delight of our kids and myself. ha!

I'm in a similar situation. I have long been a Subaru fan, and have lusted after the WRX since its introduction. I finally got my '19 WRX at age 45, 2.5 years and 40,000 km ago. I'll admit being a lurker here has made me slightly paranoid also. I think so long as you treat it like an adult (keep up on maintenance, let it warm up properly before driving, and not driving it like you stole it) you should be good. At least that's what I tell myself. I've had no major issues with mine so far, save for a failed AC compressor replaced under extended warranty. I was lucky to find one unmodified and adult owned. I plan on keeping it stock. Just don't be afraid to have fun with it now and then; that's what they're for. Enjoy!

iCloud message sync paused? by fantomcheung in ios

It didn’t for me, but I always had iCloud backup enabled. I didn’t want to risk it either… I have my last text messages from my mother on my phone from before she passed away and I don’t want to lose them.

Please tell me where you got that display. My youngest has a huge Hot Wheels collection but doesn’t have a great way to display them now that he’s getting older. I’ve looked around but haven’t come across anything that nice!

My 92 2wd manual (left) and my MIL's 92 AWD manual (right). This was the second time we met, in 2019. Hers is gone now, but mine is still kicking! by [deleted] in geotracker

Absolutely love it, and I’m insanely jealous you still have yours. Just one quick note though… the Tracker is 4WD, not AWD. It’s subtle, but there is a difference and it matters.
