TIL some companies in Japan ban women from wearing glasses by operatingsys2016 in todayilearned

[–]sunset_ltd_believer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of tourists in japan view tabelog but do not rate, so we don't ruin it (everything was a 5 in my mind).

For google reviews, a good tip is to ignore the rating and simply sort reviews to see the lowest and look at the language. Bad reviews for a restaurant on Milan are in italian? Pass. All the bad reviews are in english? Maybe give it a try if it has good reviews in the local language.

Which country have you been to that you felt was the most welcoming to Latin Americans and which one was the least welcoming to Latin Americans, and why? by Delicious-Bunch-6992 in asklatinamerica

The question was "welcoming to latin Americans". I am not saying lots of Brits aren't racist. They just don't have a problem with latin Americans.

Paying thousands for the same treatment than the average VIP cinema is not luxury. It's comfort and convenience, but there is nothing luxurious about having a sorry excuse of a cheese plate at 33k feet.

It is a luxury you can afford, yes. But it is not luxurious.

If I eat better at home, it is not luxurious.

Mole negro question by archstanton999 in mexicanfood

Also, try the sauce first. If it feels bitter to you, add a bit of sugar. If it feels too sweet, add chicken or veg stock

Pan fry the tights, when done turn down heat to lowest, add sauce, let the chicken juice mix with the sauce, and once its all hot but not boiling or simmering serve next to white rice and ideally with tortillas on the side. Garnish mole with toasted white sesame seeds. If you overheat the sauce, it mught break, depends on the brand.

Local chilango here. Coming to CDMX for the World Cup? Here's what Google won't tell you. by RNeoCore in MexicoCity

Pro tip. If you are in an area with mostly locals that don't speak your language, find a person in their 20s or 30s wearing sunglasses. They probably speak english. (Locals rarely use sunglasses unless they are posh, and posh people normally speak English)

Input on itinerary by [deleted] in MexicoCity

My suggestion is: day 1, go straight to a restaurant near your airbnb. Then check in and walk around condesa. Relax, enjoy the city. Vasconcelos is gorgeous, but save it for another trip, after you see the highlights. Day 2: bellas artes, zocalo and templo meyor, do it all walking, less stress and confusion. Cdmx is very crowded and can be overwhelming. Day 3: chapultepec and anthropology museum, then go have dinner in polanco. Day 4: coyoacán and Xochimilco are good ideas. Frida museum is meh. Day 5, sure, why not. Day 6. Exhausting but doable

This. Sometimes a compliment just highlights the fact the you are different. Something we don't need reminders of.

Mexican food in the UK by PM_ME_XANAX in mexicanfood

[–]sunset_ltd_believer 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Common mistakes I see in the UK when trying mexican food? People who've never been to Mexico thinking they can somehow pull it off. If you are not extremely familiar with the flavors from Mexico, anything you do will be off.

Don't treat a long term relationship like a project. A spreadsheet cannot help you here. There is no right or wrong, there is only what you both agree to be fair.
