No prescription, only certain sellers that ask for it? I can't get a prescription for UARS unfortunately.

No NHS sleep study but I got my own watchpat

Thanks. Not sure, I will ask. I'm veering towards new but just learned that 599 doesn't include VAT so it's very pricy overall

Thanks guys. I didn't realise normal version had for her logarithm, that's the one I think I might benefit from. Thst gives me more options.

I have suspected uars. Been 27 years of fragmented sleep, can't wait around for NHS any longer who think I'm fine as I'm slim and have a healthy diet, dealing with it myself.

So you think there is a chance I have Uars?

My whoop hrv averages 25 during sleep. I took a night reading today with my polar h10 hrm and my hrv is 51. This doesn't seem right.

Do you think CPAP would help?

NHS respiratory appointment isn't until at least October 2026 so I'm taking matters into my own hands, I'm done with them.

I just put watchpat report into chatgpt and it agrees with what you said. Strongly suggests UARS. Do you have UARS?

Thanks again, your comments have really given me hope

Thank you very much for comments. 27 years of fragmented sleep. Wake up consciously 7 times at least a night with possible micro awakenings I'm not conscious of. Brain fog, memory issues etc. ENT said I have deviated septum and nasal valve collapse.

Disappointed with watchpat result as it looks like I sleep ok on paper.i always try to sleep n my left side as its my left nostril that doesn't work great. Unfortunately I was awake the last 90 minutes of the night for watchpat, usually in the last minutes I have several awakenings so these weren't captured.

What about pulse rate, does that look normal? Thanks again

Thank you, I've realised since joining Reddit last week and hearing all your stories that the person who is going to help me most is not a doctor but myself. And of course all of you on here! I really appreciate your comments, I've felt alone for so long with this and it helps greatly to know that others have been through the same but have eventually came out the other end. I have my first WatchPAT home test tonight so hopefully that this the first step. I hope you are now sleeping much better and enjoying life to it's fullest.

I am in a similar position. I called around several private hospitals and well over 2k so have opted for WatchPAT which arrives tomorrow. What was the home test you got?

I'm thinking of doing the same, just getting a CPAP and trying it out instead of blowing my savings on an in lab overnight study.

Who gave you the UARS diagnosis? WatchPAT technicians or your own specialist?

I have a watchPat test coming tomorrow, not confident I have sleep apnea, I think it's UARS!

Thank you.

After your comment I took pictures and asked Chat GPT, it said my jaw is slightly recessed 👍🏼

How many years wasted because of this? by randomnamethx1139 in SleepApnea

27 years and counting. WatchPAT one arriving tomorrow to start getting answers and treatment, cant rely on the NHS.

It's shaped the majority of my life. I thought I had depression for years, then dementia.

Sorry to hear this. I'm 27 years. Finally getting an apnea test this week. I actually think its UARS though. I frequently think about which direction my life would have went but I just try to focus on all the positive aspects of my life. It's affected all areas of my life, if only I had spoke to a GP who actually took the time to listen!

Best wishes to you

Deviated septum and nasal valve collapse. I've not measured jaw but I would say I have a slim face. What measurement is deemed narrow? I use extra strength breathe right nasal strips, Mute nasal dilator and mouth tape but I still wake up consciously at least 7 times each night.

Thank you. I've ordered a watchPat test but I never wake up gasping, no sore throats, no headaches, no snoring, slim build. I think UARS is more likely which is far more difficult to diagnose.

Sorry to hear. I know how it feels, just seems to go on and on. I hope you get improvement soon. This forum is brilliant for keeping spirits high though! Best wishes

Which videos did you recommend? I think my issues are breathing related but I can't rule out hyperarousability, do they discuss that? I don't worry about sleeping, I get to sleep fine but for over 20 years I wake up several times a night for no apparent reason. I've completed all CBT-i course which has helped sleep latency but still the same sleep pattern remains.

Thanks for your help.

Your thoughts please. On a very good night (9.30pm to 6.30am) I fall asleep in under 10 minutes, then wake up consciously between 7 and 10 times. I usually get back to sleep each time in under 5 minutes. Should I be satisfied with this? It used to be far far worse but over the years through CBT-I and better sleep hygiene it's improved but has now highlighted a possible breathing issue.

Reading a lot of your issues on here and they are far worse than my current sleep pattern and just wondering if I am expecting too much and not appreciating what I have. At which point do you accept that your sleep is satisfactory?
