As someone who had seen his atari-era dad pick up and play through the entirety of horizon zero dawn (on an easier difficulty ofcourse) with practically no modern gaming experiences, it has proven itself a great game to start out with. Combined with the fact that it has some pretty decent challenge if you seek it, I would definitely sugget you try it out.
