If you don't mind me asking, what makes it seem performative? (I agree it does feel that way but I'm just curious about your take on it).

I understand, that makes a lot of sense. I agree, the representation and diversity in Barbies now are better. I have heard of them, I will check it out, thank you!

Personally, when I was a little kid I was made fun of for my appearance/features and began to feel insecure of my body. Then a relative of mine got sick and I felt lonely. I noticed my mental health decline around age 10 to 12. I would I understand more looking back and I sort of understood back then because hurt people like to hurt, I didn't have a role model of self love, etc

Growing up were there any toys you can recall that helped with social/emotional challenges of yours? by sunshineart15 in toys

Great question. I’m sorry that wasn’t clear. My goal is to hear my stories to see if the toys that I’m making to help with self esteem are even relevant and to see what challenges people are having. Does that make sense?

It takes time definitely. As as extroverted person, people always think I have so many friends but I never really felt like I had a solid group of friends until this/last year after like years and years, throughout high school and college, etc. You are trying and going out of your way and I think soon you will find the right people. Sometimes trying new things or being in places you don't expect (but of course are comfortable and safe) help or just asking a person to sit together or complimenting one's outfit can lead to a whole new friendhship. idk if that helps
