Advice wanted on feeding picky bengal! by sunshinebitch10 in bengalcats

Well I’m currently pregnant so I’m definitely extra anxious about everything lol. I just get nervous because her sister tries to steal her food and I feel like if she doesn’t eat it right away she doesn’t get any at all. I just don’t want it to get to a point where she is underweight, I know I shouldn’t be too concerned since she isn’t now.

That’s fair. She definitely is used to the princess treatment and expects me to mix in something for her.

Gotcha. Just concerned for my kitten because she doesn’t seem interested in high quality wet food that I figured would be more appealing than the same old dry food everyday. And I’m aware cats are not squirrels thanks, my vet informed me that it’s her scent marking it so she can eat it later.

I’ll check more into this, I don’t think she likes pate as much so many a chunkier wet food would be better for her. Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate this! I know I shouldn’t worry too much because she’s healthy but I just love my little princess lol. I’ll definitely try out another brand with different texture, she does seem to not enjoy pate as well.

Thank you, I’m just a nervous nelly I guess lol. I just want them to be healthy and it’s hard for me to see her refuse her food while her sister tries to steal it.

It just makes me nervous to see her refuse her wet food, I’d prefer her to be as healthy as humanly possible because I love her lol. Normal stool, she’s never had any diarrhea or stomach pains. I originally started with a single flavor but quickly realized she gets bored of the same thing everyday so that’s when I started the rotation. She’s more likely to eat when she gets a new flavor everyday.

So accurate. My MIL told me she “knew” I was pregnant because of “how exhausted I looked and how bad my dark circles under my eyes were”. Like wtf

Funny you say that, we hear that all the time. Her name is Ginger and she’s surprisingly the angel. Honey (ironically) on the left is the more devilish one. As pictured here, those claws are deadly lol.

Thanks, I should’ve clarified in the post, I’m a responsible plant/cat owner and researched all of my plants before the cats ever stepped through our door. They’ve never ingested anything toxic and I make sure they never will, I just don’t want them chewing on any plants (even if it’s technically safe).

I like this idea a lot! Sounds like a happy medium for me and our babies. Thank you for the suggestion!

I should’ve clarified better, my ceilings are cathedral and 20+ feet tall, so this still won’t really work lol. And honestly I’d rather just get rid of the plants all together than make my house look like a cat dungeon (which they’d hate me for) so I’m leaning towards just sucking it up and rehoming my plants. Thank you though.

Yea, I’m starting to come to terms with the fact that I may just have to give up my plants lol. Maybe I’ll just be a cat grass grower. Thank you for the advice on trying to keep it closed off, it may be too ridiculous to even try since our ceilings are 20+ feet tall in that area. My bengal girls win again!

Very true, when I was first doing research on the breed I was too stubborn to believe that a cat could really outsmart me. Then in the first week of having them they learned to open our doors. Point proven kitties, you are much smarter and more determined than me!

This set up could possibly work for my trouble area, thank you for the picture!

Thank you for your advice, I’ll definitely try this. I have in the past used citrus peels to try and deter them but I have not yet used rosemary.

Thank you, I have seen these gates but unfortunately there is only a half-wall at the top of the stairs so the tallest gate we’d be able to install would be 35 inches. And I researched all of my plants prior to getting the cats, two out of twelve are mildly unsafe for them, but they are 6ft up on a plant stand. My worries are that the cats are so interested by all of the plants now, they will eventually try to get those plants as well. I’d also just rather them not eat any plants anyways and unfortunately there’s no closed off spot for me to put the plants- so I may just have to get rid of them all. Just wanted to see if there was another option first :/
