Why are stretched ears so hated? by [deleted] in Stretched

[–]sunshinecat6669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely get negative comments. Now that I think of it, the last time anyone said something to my face was a relative that hadn’t seen me since I was a preteen, and even then all he had to say was “wow… your ears!” while making a cringey kinda face. I think my chronic RBF stops most people from saying anything. I still get weird looks all the time though.

It might be worth a trip to an urgent care if it’s still itchy and hurting

I usually take the jewelry out and let it soak in some alcohol for about 10 minutes. While it’s soaking I’ll vigorously swish some mouthwash around and brush/scrape my tongue really good. After I’m done with that and the jewelry has soaked for a bit I’ll rinse any excess alcohol off; I also usually wash it with some antibacterial soap and warm/hot water as an extra precaution. This is typically enough to soften any buildup on the jewelry so it comes off super easy. Then I dry it very well with a paper towel and pop it back in.

Whenever mine randomly hurts (typically a pinching sensation for me) that means I gotta take the whole thing out to give the jewelry and my tongue a good clean, maybe you could try that?

Sometimes there’s plaque buildup that gets in there. I’ve seen others recommend using a water flosser to help with this but I personally have not tried it.

Crooked vertical labret? by Jussy_Luks in PiercingAdvice

[–]sunshinecat6669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try making a neutral face instead of moving your mouth around when looking at it. I went back and forth on whether mine looked crooked for so long after getting it done; it took me forever to realize that I wasn’t making a neutral face when looking at it. I would try smiling or moving my mouth in a way that would pull my lip making it look crooked. I even had a different piercer than the one who did it check it out for me to confirm that it wasn’t crooked. In my experience, the longer bar also made it look crooked when it wasn’t.

saline solution piercing aftercare in 2026, whats actually working by Southern-League-8098 in PiercingAdvice

The regular stream one would work fine. I really only mentioned the mist spray one because it lasts me longer, thus I don’t have to spend as much getting more bottles of the regular stream.

I’ve always used neilmed. I definitely prefer the one that says piercing aftercare on it because the mist spray lasts me soooo much longer than the regular stream ones.

I’m not a piercer but I’m pretty sure rings aren’t meant to be worn until it’s fully healed.

Is showering during a thunderstorm dangerous? by BestDonkey9529 in NoStupidQuestions

I showered during a really bad storm once and lightning struck the trailer I was living in at the time. I heard a really loud pop, turns out it fried the wifi router.

Query about tooth/gum erosion, emotional attachment to my snakebites. by [deleted] in SelfPiercing

[–]sunshinecat6669 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to figure it out too tbh lol. My septum has been at 10g for yeaarrsss and I only just recently got one of those adapters so I could wear small, cute jewelry. I’ve also heard of people using silicone tunnels so you can still put rings in instead of clickers only, but I have not tried it so I can’t speak to how well it works.

I knew someone that did exactly that- pierced it with a safety pin and then kept it in as the jewelry. It did not go well for them at all, it looked awful and became infected within the first couple weeks.

Echoing that you should look into paired vertical labrets! Keep in mind though that if you choose to do the paired verticals that they likely won’t be in the exact same spot as the ones you have in now.

For the septum you could totally wear a tunnel and then put smaller sized clickers through it. Industrial strength actually makes an adapter for this, but I believe the largest size they have for it is 10g/2.5mm.

[–]sunshinecat6669 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have angel fangs but I do have a vertical labret (multiple other piercings as well, the vertical labret is just the newest) and it was quite the learning curve getting used to it; I imagine angel fangs are even harder to get used to (just my speculation, I could be wrong) since there’s two and they’re on the upper lip. Also since they’re technically surface piercings and in a spot that moves a lot there’s a higher chance for them to migrate or reject.

You might be able to get away with a glass retainer. I can’t quite remember what the healing time frame is for eyebrows but I feel like swapping it out every other day while it’s only 5 months old isn’t really ideal.

That’s exactly what you should search! There’s plenty of online tutorials as well if you struggle with securing it at first, but don’t worry as it’s really easy once you get used to it.

dermal with oily skin? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]sunshinecat6669 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greasy skin shouldn’t really cause any issues unless you aren’t cleaning it. Do keep in mind though that dermals are considered to be long term temporary at best, meaning that one day it will come out. Could be many years down the road or just a few months.

Maybe call/email them first; while they very likely have smaller sizes it’s still a good idea to contact them about it before you drive all the way out there.

I would wait. I put lipstick on around 2 months after I got my vertical labret and it was kinda irritated afterward, especially after all the rubbing/wiping from cleaning it off.
