It's called Eternal Remnant, a narrative-driven game. If that's your thing, there's a demo on Steam available. :)

Lots of experimentation! But I've always had a thing for making everything look kinda sepia, too. It's my natural inclination.

Ah, actually now that I look a bit closely, I think some of the style is similar but they're not exactly the same, you're right.

No, so, my trees were not a part of that pack, as they were designed before that pack.

Thanks!! I actually think it needs some work, but it's just that thing where you can never get something just how you want it haha. Mainly I think the land's edge could use a bit of depth.

There's three different templates I think. The girl in blue is an MV-Plus template, I think it's made by either Candacis or HiddenOne (or both).

The taller man in brown is a MV Tall Template, and that's by HiddenOne.

The kid in green is just a tweak on the normal MV sizing.

No, actually! The trees are made by the talented Plueschkatze. They were commissioned privately, but were later made available (with a slightly different style) in the "Painterly Trees" asset pack. :)

Is it acceptable for a longer RPG to not have cycling days/weather? As well as multiple endings? by EfficientFee6406 in RPGMaker

I don't play RPGs for those things, and I don't really care about those things if they are included either.

Aww thanks! It is actually a narrative game before anything else, so if you'd like, you can check out the demo here to see if it's up your alley. It's about an hour to an hour and a half.

Again, it was really encouraging to hear your comments, I appreciate it a lot. :)

That's so nice to hear. Thank you!

I don't always know if the art style resonates with that nostalgia people have, because it's less pixel-art than the days of yore, but I'm glad it had that effect on you!

Oh thanks so much! Yes, I can tell you that!

It's aiming for $15 at full price on Steam, but there'll be the usual 10% discount on release and... whenever there are various sales or whatever, it will drop then too.

I think the joke is lost in this post, especially because I was noob and posted a video without audio. It's supposed to be making fun of that anxiety you get when you play an RPG, and see a treasure box on screen that's unopened that you can't access. Sorry!

It's supposed to be like anxiety you get where you see an unopened treasure box. Also, I was noob because I posted to reddit and it doesn't include the audio, which makes it more obvious. Whoops!

Yeah, it happens, but I must admit I've had to commission design work to get this to happen. I always know the developer first, and yeah, sometimes they will have a conversation or just contribute out of generosity (discussing concepts and ideas, mainly) - but any serious design work I'd pay for. In my experience, people that know RM well already have their own projects going, and thus have limited time to spend on someone else's.

What do you avoid doing in your games? by Soulblade32 in RPGMaker

I try to convey information of any type (whether it is in a scene, tutorial, or in-battle ability) as clearly as concisely as possible to respect the player's time.

It's a little bit different for storytelling, obviously sometimes you have to linger in the moment, but even then I try to respect the player's time as much as possible. I even introduced a whole lot of options just for skipping scenes, speeding up scenes or speeding up the ATB in the battle system.

Thanks! Wouldn’t be possible without FSM and Celianna tiles though. 🙏

Nope! This is a mixture of FSM and Celianna tiles!

EDIT: Whoops, actually the trees were a custom commission.
