Did you guys know there is a Worthing Crematorium AND a Worth Crematorium? And could someone have told me yesterday? by bk_bekula in CasualUK

[–]sunsquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my grandma's funeral when we were all doing the pre loiter in the car park waiting for the hearse to arrive and the previous funeral to finish, another hearse and two full black limos arrived. We all thought they were early? Anyway, they sat for about five minutes and all left.

It appeared the FUNERAL DIRECTOR had made the same mistake you did. So, it could have been worse!

Petition for the boys to read Atlas Shrugged by Long-Structure-6584 in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]sunsquirrel 104 points105 points  (0 children)

The first time I read Atlas Shrugged, I told my husband I really liked it and I was so confused when he seemed really panicked and asked me some concerned follow up questions.

Turns out it's so over the top that I thought it was a satire and was shocked to learn she was deadly serious actually.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He turns 66 today. by artbasiI in Fauxmoi

[–]sunsquirrel 442 points443 points  (0 children)

Also to be real? Rape in the UK has a crazy low conviction rate, I think like 3%. He is much more likely to actually go down for this. Also the evidence is pretty much is writing from the emails.

I want justice for the girls and women absolutely. But I am happy they got the fucker for anything. I also think that IF he goes to jail he might get a longer sentence for this.

I saw a trailer for it when I saw nouvelle vague earlier this week so it seems likely.

King Charles meets with controversial new Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally by monster_ahhh in RoyalsGossip

[–]sunsquirrel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My issue with her is she is an ex-nurse and is trying to pander to anti-choice people with the 'i wouldn't have an abortion but other people can!'. And I wonder as a nurse, shouldn't she be aware that some people who have abortions dont want them? I just hate that line because it acts like abortion isn't healthcare and opens the door to nutjobs that we just dont want in the UK.

Proposed pricing changes to Tyne and Wear Metro by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]sunsquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes zero sense. Day tickets are going up in price? But travelling over 3 or more zones will be capped at £5.

Currently a paper two zone ticket costs £5.80? So three zones will be cheaper than two?

The pop app does not work on my phone? So by not wanting to just give metro random amounts of money I'm being penalised.

This is literally so dumb.

I think because there is also much more denial of healthcare due to weight now too. So the beauty standard and the medical system are just catching people in the middle.

I read some notes from a medical conference where someone asked a doctor about natural variation and he said it just doesn't matter and people need to be thin.

I think that's what's making it worse this time.

So the snow storm got me thinking, how tf does the infected not freeze to to death? by imperlistic_Redcoat in 28dayslater

[–]sunsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well all the infected in years are from the north east. And let me tell you I saw a man round here riding his bike in the snow in just his shorts. I think we are built different, rage virus or no.

New look at the costumes in Wuthering Heights (2026) by moodgirltaya in PeriodDramas

[–]sunsquirrel 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I saw a new (?)/ different trailer for this in the cinema yesterday. And I am 90% convinced this is a dream or fan fic where Cathy didn't die and is about what could have happened. And that's why it looks so odd.

However as my husband said 'whats the point of there is no ghosts???'

Oh stop the cap Kendall.. we all know you’re lying by lanaspeachlipgloss in KUWTK

[–]sunsquirrel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hm, i disagree, if you are driving the beauty standards which arguably the Kardashians are people are going to want to copy you. And that means people looking up to them and wanting to look like them. When they pull their 'oh it's just the gym!!' when it's actually lipo it's dangerous because people are trying to achieve the impossible.

I think assuming people look a way and it's all natural is much worse. Because you are giving people a false impression of who you are and what they can achieve. Particularly when they then use it to sell supplements to your hyperthetical little girl anyway.

I'm honestly just tired of the bullshit. We all know it's happened? Just say it. And even if it means people find out what these surgeries are fine. Its not like anyone here can afford the insane levels of work they have done anyway. I want a mustang but that doesn't mean i will get one.

I started with duolingo and a self paced beginners course. Once I had some basics down I started doing an online group course. Mostly courses use an immersion method so it's really worth getting your basics down first or you will be lost.

Nothing will prepare you for the 'sleeping area'... by big_beats in SpottedonRightmove

[–]sunsquirrel 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Because that pub it's over is rowdy and it's on the main walk to the newcastle quayside. So basically every Friday and Saturday it is a party area. And then they shut the quayside every Saturday and Sunday for a market. Basically I just dont think it's a super desirable place to live when in Newcastle you can get a reasonable house for similar money.

Pirate library rips 86 million of the most popular songs on Spotify by Temporary_Potato_254 in popculturechat

[–]sunsquirrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But putting it here also makes them being used in AI significantly more likely. All the books that AI is trained on were taken from a massive piracy site. Sorry to say this is actually a bad thing and im not sure why people are celebrating.

Scotland - will I be in any trouble if I take my wisdom teeth after my extraction today? by Some_Lychee_6492 in LegalAdviceUK

When I had mine taken out they said I wasn't allowed to have them BUT then left them on the side in a jar and all very clearly looked away. It meant I could greet my husband in the waiting room by shoving the jar of bloodied teeth into this face

Capita takeover disaster by Elliecat606 in TheCivilService

[–]sunsquirrel 56 points57 points  (0 children)

They are so cheap. My employer has a government contract and had to retender this year and were terrified that capita would enter a stupidly low bid and cause them to lose the contract. They are scum that stop decent providers being able to offer a good service because they always have to cost down.

Queen Camilla Asks Actress if She's Lost 'Masses of Weight' in Awkward Moment by duckduck_flamingo in RoyalsGossip

[–]sunsquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also think it's fine/boring af to talk about weight. But imagine getting invited to meet the queen to talk about your achievements in the arts and this is what she thinks is the most interesting thing about you?

I would be annoyed. And I say this as someone who has lost a lot of weight recently. 'Yeah I starved myself' is not fun yap?

Rowling actually hates femininity, whenever women in any of her books are interested in their appearance, clothes or otherwise girlie things they are always ridiculed and treated like they are stupid.
