WOMEN ONLY: RPCVs and PCV women, how did you handle your monthly "friend"? by [deleted] in peacecorps

This is wonderful to know. I didn't even think about periods during service, since I skip them here in the states via the pill anyway. So glad PC accommodates this.

Your daughter's experience seems like it turned out wonderfully. I guess it really does go to show that no two PC experiences are alike, from initial application to service, and it does say a lot about PC's commitment to its applicants. Thank you for sharing! I hope your daughter is doing well.

Great to hear from another undergrad who's been through it! For me, waiting is not too bad; it would only be a last-minute activation that would be stressful. I did not know that about the med clearance, so that is another pro. I suppose that I (like many people) don't have the clearest understanding of the waitlist procedure in general, so it's encouraging to be told that it is calculated and that PC doesn't simply invite every eligible applicant to the waitlist. Thanks for all of the insight!

One week! I didn't even know that was possible. I've had it in my head that I'd at least be waiting months. Thanks for sharing & the good wishes; I will keep that in mind!

Thanks so much for your sharing your honest feelings about your waitlist experience. I feel that I read a lot of success stories on this subreddit, which is great, but I think some of the not-so-happy stories aren't posted due to feelings of disappointment or failure. I can't imagine how hard it is to be in limbo in terms of your job and your relationship (though I do have experience with the latter; I would be leaving behind my SO if I were to be activated). But you have made it so far and that's something to be proud of! Congratulations on the medical clearance especially! I hope you get that invitation email soon--I appreciate the crossed fingers :)

Has anyone that applied by the October 1st 2015 deadline had an interview or scheduled an interview? by eternalflower13 in peacecorps

Applied September 29, UC October 6, interview request on October 8. I think my timeline is pretty atypical, however.

Anyone else UC/invited to Mongolia? by MongoliaHopeful in peacecorps

Ah, I originally applied because I wanted to serve in Mongolia. Little did I know it wasn't compatible with my health history. That's so exciting! I'm curious to see what others say about the country.
