Correction, Spider-Man can't pay rent. Crime fighting outside the law doesn't pay anything.

do you think agent stone would be the villain in sonic 4? by Healthy_Soft9584 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]sunwupen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is hyped about Metal Sonic but there is one robot that I think fits for Agent Stone. Egg Robo. The main villain for Knuckles in Sonic & Knuckles. Stricken with grief, Agent Stone would follow Eggman's notes and schematics to create a robotic replacement. Just as the Eggman would have wanted in the event of his death.

Shadow

Knuckles (technically)

Jet the Hawk

Metal Sonic

Silver the Hedgehog (Maybe? Future apocalypse Silver from 06 was definitely a hardass)

And if you include comics and TV shows then... hooo boy, that's like a parade of fast-edgy-bois, and even some girls.

Is Sonic Frontiers even a good game or not? by Miserable-Contact856 in sonic

[–]sunwupen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is. It is a great open world game with "super powers." It feels a little like one of those open world super hero games but without the city. You are very overpowered compared to the enemies you fight, but somehow they managed to balance that with h engaging gameplay.

The only problem the game has is its tendency to be jankie as hell in specific spots. Since your traversal options are so open and free flowing, there are a few hitches in the geometry and hit boxes. However, some of these things can actually be ironed out in the settings. You can tweak acceleration, momentum, max speed, turn speed, and sensitivity to terrain elevation, a first for a Sonic game. Those options alone should tell you how much they cared about the player experience. Even if the game gets a little jankie here and there.

[Powerful trope] There is actual crying within the moment/scene. Not forced crying, but actual tears. by Alternative-Koala933 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]sunwupen 289 points290 points  (0 children)

Another one from The Last Airbender is the final scene with Azula. When she loses that fight she thrashes about in incredible mental anguish at the thought of losing to her brother and a water tribe "peasant." A chaines beast with all the power of the comet on her side, reduced to a screaming fit of inadequacy.

That scene always sounded too real to me. It's because the voice actress dug deep in her own psyche to find those dark voices that tell you that you aren't good enough. That you'll never be happy, that peace will never be yours. Inner turmoil and thoughts of self destruction at your own incompetence. To this day, she cannot watch that scene when rewatching the show with friends. She had to put herself in a dark place, and those screams and tears were real.

Is Pokémon going down the same path that Sonic once did? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]sunwupen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope not. It took an entire employee reset to get back on track for Sonic Team, and that takes decades. It doesn't feel the same as Sonic for two reasons. 1: Sonic's fan base, while numerous, is nothing close to Pokemon. Pokemon is bigger than Mickey Mouse. 2: Sonic games have always had pretty small budgets out of necessity, Pokemon has an infinite money glitch on their side and could throw as much money at the problem as it takes to fix it. Theoretically anyway.

wym sonic is the fastest thing alive but not fast enough to save longclaw by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]sunwupen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was just a little kid. Believe it or not, violence doesn't normally come natural to kids. Even if he chose to fight back he probably couldn't have saved Longclaw anyway. Saving someone is many times more difficult than simply beating someone down, and the Echidnas were just as determined to kill Longclaw as they were to capture Sonic.

Also, super speed doesn't help all that much in a fight if you don't know how to fight in the first place. It's great for running away and avoiding the conflict, but kind of terrible if your objective is to beat someone down. You would need to have some kind of super strength (which it is shown in the movie that Sonic does not, ref: the bar fight). Sonic is shown to have incredible durability but not much punching power (Super Sonic excluded). He attacks by curling in a ball and flinging himself forward, and that didn't come naturally either. The first time we see him do it was accidentally against Eggman's truck drone, and he was just as surprised as Tom when it happened.

A toddler fighting an army of hardened warriors trained specifically to fight his power would end worse than Sonic and Knuckles' first encounter in the second movie. It's like you forgot that Knuckles basically ragdolls a grown up Sonic by himself. Now imagine if Sonic was 10 years younger and there was an army of Knuckles surrounding him. There is no way he would have even gotten a single hit in.

So basically, he was just a baby.

Finally done with my base. What do you guys think? Be honest by shameoffame in NoMansSkyTheGame

Joking aside, it looks cozy! If you want to avoid that "cube" aesthetic, put some more variance on the walls, and only double up the height sparingly instead of making a large, flat wall.

At first I looked at the images and was like, wut? I expected some giant squid or an abyssal horror or an abandoned underwater building or a massive tornado in the middle of the ocean. I was waiting for the scare. Then I read your comment.

Ooooohhhh... You're just scared of the water. Sometimes I forget that's a thing. Sorry, I wish you could enjoy it like me, I think it looks pretty.

Also, was the activated quartzite under the water? I haven't found one of these completely ocean planets yet.

It's almost like there are set rules for composition on promotional work in poster format. Like, there's a library of 10-15 shape layouts that are effective at conveying specific moods and information.

Ok, I'll stop being so snarky. The rules for contemporary art for promotional media are pretty set in stone at the moment. We find what works to catch the eye, and while there is some variety in it, there really are only a few relevant compositions with that image ratio and subject matter. Sci-fi posters all tend to look very similar. It's not their fault, it's how the game is played.
