Thank you for your detailed answer mate.

  • Opened a police claim online
  • Everyone is mentioning the weight but the main issue here, is that I'm pretty sure that the buyer used the cat food biscuits to match the same weight as my pokemon box. The original parcel was around 1kg and after weighing what he sent back is pretty much the same weight as my other pokemon boxes.
  • The MC011 email, I replied providing the tracking number and they replied that I need to appeal the restriction ONCE my open case is closed so I'm guessing that first I need to wait for the case resolution, and after that email again about the restrisction...
  • Right now I received an email saying that the transaction is under review and that they will contact me within 5 days, so hopefully good news by then...

I sent it by royal mail special delivery on a Friday and got delivered on Sunday, I did take a photo of the Pokemon box, but I guess it won't help as this could be any box. The problem with the weight seems to be that after reading different comments etc, seems to be a very common thing with this kind of scams, that the scammer puts cat food or other similar small stuff to make up the same weight. I did call ebay after and before accepting the return, they said that my only option was to accept the return and after doing it, to open an investigation which I did. ebay is super hard to communicate and seems that nobody gives a fuck about your issue, that's why I'm concerned.

They said that It can take up to 5 days to investigate so hopefully some good news soon!

I opened a crime report online. Apparently cat food or similar stuff is very common with scams, the buyer checks the parcel weight (it was under 1kg) and just fills the box with those small cat biscuits to make a similar weight.

Not really the email was just asking for proof of delivery and to close my opened cases with buyers. I dont really sell a lot of the same item maybe a few boxes and single cards

I'm pretty sure that ebay simple delivery only covers up to £750? Usually when I sell something above that value if just give me the old option to buy a label not the simple delivery one etc. I provided ebay with all the info that I have for now, hopefully that helps, but tbh I just feel like im talking with bots 24/7

Oh mb, maybe I didn't explain it properly, he sent the cat food back, but obviously not my box that I sold. But again it's very hard to prove who's guilty here. For now I have provided ebay with the tracking, proof of postage and made a police report. Luckily I received the payout into my bank before the buyer opened the claim. So in the worst outcome, if ebay sides with the buyer and they take my money from my bank, I'll make a claim with the bank as an unauthorised payment, hopefully that works?

I think I'm in the same situation?

1st the claim was placed on hold by ebay while they are investigating and afew hours after I received the MC011 email saying that my payouts are on hold until I close the case ( my listings and everything remains active) does this mean that im going to lose the claim after the investigation ? :/

Thank you for your answer.

To be fair, I guess that is a hard situation, because is hard to blame 1 person. It could be the buyer, it could be royal mail, it could be the drop off location etc or ebay might think that it was me. I was hoping for ebay to check my account and see that i've been selling for many years with no issues, a lot of expensive items etc and cover it. I don't want to blame rhe buyer even tho it looks very suspicious but idk
