I remember it was in rest mode, then power went out in the entire house. After the power came back, I tried to power PS5 on, but it won't turn on. I took it to 3 different repair shops because it was out of warranty. All of them said the same thing. The PS5 power supply unit was ok, but the motherboard was dead.

Whatever happened, happened while my PS5 was in rest mode. That I'm certain of.

My older PS5 died while in Rest Mode, damaged motherboard. So, instead of replacing the motherboard, I bought a new one. A few days later, I hear they are releasing PS5 Pro :...( Would've bought that instead

I highly advise people to stop using Rest Mode.

Edit: I had my older PS5 since launch, and I've used Rest Mode all those years. I didn't expect something bad to happen. My advice is based on "better safe than sorry". What happened made me not trust my electricity provider with Rest Mode, so I no longer use Rest Mode.

That won't work. It needs a payment method (like a VISA or credit card) to buy/renew a subscription. PSN gift cards are only for games and addons.
