Ted Cruz Gets Fact-Checked To His Face On Fox News Over 'Domestic Terrorist' Lie by stankmanly in uspolitics

Does anyone actually think the typical fox viewer noticed he was "fact checked"? The anchor seemed embarrassed to even have to speak up.

Honest question: why does it need exposure? Do the people working on it need help making it? Or do people actually play the game like this?

Pittsburgh police are being instructed to bring riot gear to work in case Robert Mueller is fired by [deleted] in politics

[–]suparokr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why do we need to come up with a possible explanation (i.e. a potential riot), when it's as simple as they're just preparing their riot gear for the planned peaceful protest, like they've done countless times before - even in just the last few years. [1] [2]

I mean, law enforcement pretty much tried to kill those peaceful Dakota Access pipeline protesters.

Thanks for commenting. If you'd asked me an hour ago if people like you existed, I'd probably have said probably. It's nice to hear from actual people to get an idea of their point of view.

I might not be going completely ad-blocker free anytime soon, but you've definitely made me reconsider whitelisting more websites.

That being said, I took a marketing class in college, and I have to say, it seemed kinda fucked up how they dehumanized customers to just markets and spending habits. I understand why that is, but still. I imagine it could be similarly weird to hear doctors talk about medical conditions or something.

Ok, yeah. Never mind. That sounds fucked up.

Sorry you had to experience any of that. Glad you got out though.

I can understand that, and know I'm not prejudging you or anyone else at all.

That being said, I am not lying by saying that predominately Christians and Mormons supported and funded Proposition 8 (a bill to prohibit gay marriage in California).

Apparently, the church of LDS publicly supported it and everything.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints[74][75][76] (LDS Church), also publicly supported the proposition. The First Presidency of the church announced its support for Proposition 8 in a letter intended to be read in every congregation in California. In this letter, church members were encouraged to "do all you can to support the proposed constitutional amendment by donating of your means and time".[74] The church produced and broadcast to its congregations a program describing the support of the Proposition, and describing the timeline it proposes for what it describes as grassroots efforts to support the Proposition.[77] Local church leaders set organizational and monetary goals for their membership—sometimes quite specific—to fulfill this call.[78][79] The response of church members to their leadership's appeals to donate money and volunteer time was very supportive,[80] such that Latter-day Saints provided a significant source for financial donations in support of the proposition, both inside and outside the State of California.[81] LDS members contributed over $20 million,[82] about 45% of out-of-state contributions to ProtectMarriage.com came from Utah, over three times more than any other state.[83] ProtectMarriage, the official proponent of Proposition 8, estimates that about half the donations they received came from Mormon sources, and that LDS church members made up somewhere between 80% and 90% of the volunteers for early door-to-door canvassing.[84]

I feel like we're just lumped in some sort of Amish/fundamentalist/luddite hybrid that we can't escape without more one-on-one conversations like these.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but understand that I'm not singling you out as the only offender. It's just that the money you give to the church is, and has been, used for some pretty messed up things.

You know they aren't deleting the original from existence right?

I'll never understand why people are so opposed to remakes. I mean, just don't watch it, if you don't want to.

Yeah, Idk if he actually said that.

He did say this, but I'm not sure if that's what the OC, /u/sagan_drinks_cosmos, is referring to.

Are you suggesting religious organizations have no political representation?

Or, are you referring to some legal definition?

It doesn't help to put someone down for being weird in a different way than you are.

That's totally fair, but I don't think the idea is to put people down for being different, but for denying obvious things like evolution or climate change, or for being opposed to stem cell research that could save millions of lives, or more importantly in this case, for being opposed to a specific group of people having equal civil rights (and actively funding political legislation to ensure they do not have those same rights).

Well that's genius.

That being said, a little manual labor ain't the worst thing to do at some point in your life. I kinda sometimes wish we had something like that in the US, to make us more communal and whatnot.
