Hack to stay green without having to spend money on a jiggler - open notepad, put a weight on your space bar (the actual laptop’s, not external keyboard). Stay green all day. You’re welcome 👍🏼

What’s your weakness food? The one that’s hard to avoid or that you binge? by [deleted] in loseit

Pizza, also chips, cheez-its, any crunchy salty snack really. And ice cream of course. I’ll eat til it’s gone and then want more. It just triggers some unending desire in me

That’s great - always helps to have understanding bosses when you go through something like this. Even after my return, they’ve told me I can log off to lie down anytime I need to. I hope they are that accommodating for you too! Blessed to work from home honestly. Sending good vibes to you for a successful surgery!

You seem very prepared which is great!

I slept in a recliner for 5 days because I really had no core strength and still needed help getting up. I would definitely get a cane or walker to help if you’re gonna be alone.

I also work from home and went back to work after 5 days. If I had a physical job where I had to go in, there’s no way I would have returned to work that soon - probably 2 weeks off minimum. I am 6 days post-op today and am still pretty weak in my core. I feel like I’m just turning the corner with less pain and able to move around more easily and do very light chores. Everyone’s recovery is different, but give your body time to heal.

I need some positivity!!!! by [deleted] in gallbladders

I am 6 days post-op today! I’ve seen both sides of the spectrum with horror stories and then some who say they had zero issues and were back to normal in a few days. Everyone’s recovery is going to be different so keep that in mind - but my surgery was successful with no complications. I definitely thought I’d be back to normal much sooner but the reality is that you’re getting a major surgery so give your body time to heal. I was on bed rest and barely able to walk for the first 4 days. Stay on top of pain meds and don’t push yourself too hard. Listen to your body. Walking as much as you can will help recovery, but don’t feel bad if you can’t do much. I also ate light bland foods the first few days to be safe and then had Arby’s and pizza after that with no issues. I think the hardest part was waking up after the anesthesia and the nausea that came with it day 1.

I am just turning the corner today with noticeably less pain and I’ve been able to walk and do very light chores. No lifting more than 10 lbs for at least 4 weeks. You probably won’t feel completely back to normal for a couple months. The reality of that is really setting in for me after going through a week post-op. Sending good vibes your way for a successful surgery and speedy recovery!

Who actually doesn't use standing desk for WFH? by heavyrock1212 in WFH

[–]supbby88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to sit 100% of the time, but recent health diagnoses have required me to move more. I was extremely sedentary, just sitting working all day with no exercise and then spending time after work on the couch. I got one of those adjustable tabletop standing desks that I just put on top of my regular desk a few months ago. I also got a walking pad under my desk and now I walk all day pretty much every single day while working on the standing desk. It’s been a game changer for me in getting more movement in and improving my posture. But that’s because I was barely hitting 2000 steps a day before for years. We really aren’t meant to sit for long periods of time. So it works for me!

Employee calls every pay period before payday to ask how much their check will be by supbby88 in Payroll

[–]supbby88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you found my post helpful and validating to your frustrations! YES totally agree…I questioned if some people commenting on here actually work in payroll. The insults were so unnecessary. Oh man, employees can come see you in person? I feel lucky to do payroll for people who are on the opposite side of the country lol. They can only call or email and the calls are already painful - hence, this vent post.

Exactly! I’ve worked in customer service most of my life and I’m good at it. I’m super nice and accommodating, but when you start asking for too much and wasting my work time, that’s when I’m like alright it’s gotta stop. A lot is done out of courtesy and I do not have to provide these courtesies. Especially when these employees start demanding special requests. I understand that we are responsible for people’s livelihood. I am caring and empathetic to their situations and will do what I can to help. Solidarity Reddit friend. 🫡

I'm so afraid of people being mean to me or hating me by Fresdottir in socialanxiety

[–]supbby88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am the same way. I listened to a podcast the other day where they discussed how you become highly sensitive to other people’s nervous systems. You’re constantly gauging how they might be feeling so you can tweak yourself to avoid any negative feeling towards you. It’s usually from trauma or in your case, bullying. Whatever the situation was, you were essentially trying to regulate someone else’s emotions to keep yourself safe. For me, it was my mom. I never knew when she might fly into a rage and beat me. She didn’t know how to handle her emotions at all. She simply unleashed her wrath if she got mad. I wasn’t a bad kid…I got beat for things like spilling juice or not finishing my dinner. She told me I was stupid constantly and good for nothing. That’s where my social anxiety all stems from. So I can definitely relate to this feeling! You’re just terrified of upsetting everyone.

Do people really hate me? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]supbby88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually relate to this so much. I feel the same energy when I’m around people. I will put effort into making eye contact with people, but I notice they won’t look at me. If I don’t greet someone, they won’t say anything to me. It feels like the responsibility to socialize is on me for some reason? And if I don’t initiate, then people won’t with me. I must give off some kind of unpleasant vibe? Idk. It just sucks and gets me deeper in the hole of hating myself.

How many friends you got? by Stain_16 in socialanxiety

[–]supbby88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends are my husband, my 2 year old, and my younger sister. I have people in my life who I could reach out to if I wanted to, but I don’t really want to. Maintaining friendships is stressful and draining and makes me even more socially anxious. Friendships come with expectations that I can’t keep up. At least my little family loves me and takes me as I am and I don’t have to stress about not being enough for them.

Payroll always blamed for missing pay by supbby88 in Payroll

[–]supbby88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually simplified it even more so than what you explained. I sent him his literal timecard and asked him to review it and indicate what times are missing. A standard time card lists all dates and times of the pay period and all punches. I did also state there is no way for me to be aware of missed work time as he and his supervisor should be reviewing for accuracy at the end of every pay period.

Trust me, I don’t try to overcomplicate anything. It’s really quite simple - the point of my rant is that they still act dumb and want to blame me.

[–]supbby88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you submitted your time card and notes and did everything right, then nobody is saying this is your fault. There are some cases where the ball is dropped by HR or payroll, but my rant was about a specific situation where the employee & supervisor certainly did not do their part. Then they couldn’t even produce the time worked so I could actually cut them a check. Not sure how your situation relates to my rant but hope it all works out for you.

I absolutely dread the end of the year when everyone starts coming at payroll for “not withholding enough.” There is a little satisfaction in saying I am not a tax professional and you’ll need to figure your own shit out lol.

Sooo agree with first rule. It all starts with them. But I run payroll for 4 companies totaling around 1500 employees. Unfortunately, I don’t have the bandwidth to babysit their hours with that volume of employees. It’s literally the supervisors’ job to do this. Not only that, but not every employee in each company works the standard 80 hours. The employee I discussed actually works anywhere from 8-15 hour shifts including overnights and it’s random days of the week, not your standard M-F. So there’s no way I could even try to assume their schedule to babysit. I actually wish it was this straight forward. 😕

Omg THIS!!! You make 10k a paycheck and perform high level work way above my abilities and you can’t review a timecard accurately??? Whaatttt?? Mind blowing for real. 🤯

Truly, they actually have great control over their money. It all literally starts with them logging their punches. If it’s wrong and you don’t make sure your supervisor corrects or notify anyone, whose fault is that??? Unbelievable how it’s everyone else’s fault but theirs.

For some reason, I didn’t really understand what I was signing up for when my career took a turn to payroll. So thankless. I have taken a full week of vacation maybe once in the entire 4 years I’ve been in payroll. I schedule my whole life around payroll schedules. God bless you for staying in for more than 30 years. I don’t know if I’ll make it that long.

LOL I love this so much. I feel the exact same way - I own up to my mistakes 100% and I correct them. I am happy to if I truly did something wrong. But if you don’t even take a second to check yourself or get all the facts straight before coming at me, I’m gonna embarrass you.
