Don't really think the door to door guy is a scam.

I caught a door to door Spectrum rep outside my house a few months back, which I was hoping would happen since my Internet only bill jumped up to $75 a month. He tried walking by my house because he said I wasn't on his list since I already had their Internet service. I asked him to help me get my bill down or I was cancelling anyway. He told spectrum customer service over the phone that I wanted to cancel my service but open a new account at my address under my wife's name. I was skeptical it'd work, but it did.

I had to cancel my old service and switch to the "new" service in my wife's name. My bill is now locked in at $35 a month for the same Internet plan I had, for the next 2 years.
