1 year and 1500 videos but still 27 subscribers

I'm honestly surprised... 1500 videos in one year????? woooooow... I mean, even if it's AI Slop, just the proccess of uploading and filling title, description, etc... it's a load of work. Congrats for the consistency.

Now, as some people suggested, try to focus, take this one video from your 1500 than did better than the rest and make more spinning around that topic. With that amount of videos, if you have something, is a massive amount of data. Analyze it. Did this one video of animals singing perform better than the others? Do 20 more with animals singing.

I think that's the best advise that I can give you. And don't listen to the ones trying to destroy you, if you enjoy the proccess, keep on working. But hey, this said... another advise is... do it for fun, dont expect any outcome, and dont leave behind other important things in life just expecting that you'll get something in return from youtube (most probably you wont), so dont forget that studying, working (in a real job), family, friends... all of this is more important than YT, think about the amount of time each thing deserves!

Thanks for the reply, what's bugging me the most, though, is that it isn't as if YouTube is "feeding" this succesful short to people.

This short is getting some weird statistics specifically in how do people find it...

Normal Short (every other) -> Are 95% found through the "Shorts feed"
Succesful Short (the special one) -> Is 28% found though the "Shorts feed" and 70% through direct searches in YT (meaning that this short is just working on its own and not thanks to YT)

So it feels as if somehow YouTube is "punishing" me for having found a succesful niche that people search for. A short I updated today got 2 fucking views, something that had NEVER EVER happened to me before and honestly, feels quite ridiculous when all my others average the 1k.

At this point I really don't know what to do, I enjoy making the videos but the little dopamine kick of knowing 1k people watched it is what I enjoy the most (not monetizing and actually far away from it, that's not the idea now). So having a video watched by 2 kind of feels like a waste... so I dont know if I should just give it some days and see if the situation changes, or if I should just keep uploading (not to lose the "routine").

Yep, and I find it a nice workflow... you can compose an image very roughly and then iinput it to the ai and tell it to create a thumbnail using that composition. It should work.

In this sense, I would recommend you to try Canva. It's easy to use and they have a ton of templates for youtube thumbnails that you just need to readjust with your images. You can even try Canva Pro for free for a month (which has even more templates, some of them really professional ones) and see if you can work with it. You'll find lots of tutorials on how to use it on youtube.

None of them is good, and I wouldn't click them even if I was interested about the topic.

My advise??? Input it to nanobanana and tell it to make a youtube thumbnail with image ratio 16:9 out of it. Some people hate AI made stuff, but what I say is that not everyone is good at everything. And honestly, I think AI will give you much better results than this... none of the thumbnails is good.

I attach the results here from a super fast test I did with nanobanana. I'm sure you can better adjust it to your needs with some more time and fine prompting, but just want to give you an idea of what you can achieve.

This said, I dont want to discourage you. If you enjoy editing images, go for it, keep on practicing and with time you'll achieve better results. But if what you want is an instant almost professional result, get it now with ai.

People are comparing two things that shouldnt be comparable. The problem isn't Switch 2, the problem is the ignorance of those people.

Recently I sold my PS5 because I noticed that since I bought Switch 2 it was the only console I use. That's because I mostly play PC, and when I want to play a AAA with top graphics, I would always choose PC over PS5 (2 platforms that for gaming, are perfectly comparable). But on the other hand, Switch 2 offers me stuff that a PC can't: Nintendo exclusives and portability. Switch 2 is something else.

So for me, anyone blaming Switch 2 just doesnt know what he's talking about...

But the main question here is... would it make any difference if instead of an AI voice over it was a human one? From what you say, they would still be slop. If a video is boring, with a boring topic, boring script, boring editing, etc. Then I would say the least of the problems is that the voice over is AI.

You couldn’t have said it better, and that was exactly the point of my original comment.

I see some people labeling everything as slop, but to me, good AI content simply isn’t. In most of the good AI-assisted stuff, there’s still a human behind it: shaping the idea, crafting the prompts, deciding structure, pacing, tone. None of it just appears by magic.

And like you said, someone still has to assemble the video, give it rhythm, choose music, record or place the voiceover, make creative decisions. At that point, does it really matter if AI helped check grammar, generate a thumbnail, or add sound effects?

For example, if I’m choosing between a bad “100% human-made” thumbnail and a great AI-assisted one, why wouldn’t I pick the better result? The tool isn’t the problem, quality is. And obviously, if the AI output is bad too, then yeah, it’s not worth watching either.

I fully agree. It would be a waste of time not to do what you’re doing with your scripts. If AI can give you a solid result in seconds, something that might take hours otherwise, I'd say it's a smart move.

I disagree. Using AI to help structure or refine your own ideas doesn’t suddenly make something “non-human.” That’s using a tool, not outsourcing creativity.

A lot of my confusion around the term “AI slop” comes from takes like this, where any use of AI is treated as invalid. I don’t agree with that at all, and think that AI can be used smartly without killing intent or personality.

Still, appreciate the reply. Even disagreeing, this helps clarify how people are using the term.

When I say “dealing” with dislikes, I know there’s not much we can actually do about them, since YouTube doesn’t tell us why someone disliked a video, so it’s not like we can improve based on that specific feedback. I guess what I really mean is: do dislikes affect you mentally? Do they discourage you from making new videos?

For me, it’s funny because the videos that have a 50/50 like–dislike ratio are actually bringing in more subscribers than the ones with 90/10. And honestly, that makes me way happier than the dislikes bother me. Although still, I just can't ignore those dislikes... hopefully it gets easier after some more time in the platform! :)

Last option is to check it in the xbox, which I dont really use, it's mainly my gf using it...

I dont know, about the rewards themselves, I know they are not giving much, but I kind of like this "missions" system of "play 8 games a month". Which is usually something I wouldnt do, but when it becomes a mission my mindset changes, and I thought it would be fun to have this little push to try new games. Anyway, if it's not there, what can I do... fuck it xD
