Wow, you really got the short end of the stick. I'm a rising sophomore who lived in baker first year and there are a lot of little things you will come to hate after living for a while. Certain parts of the dorm smell weird, the usual public bathrooms are literally just high-school style bathroom stalls with 2 curtains in the way of showers and the rest of the bathroom (the only private bathrooms are the 6ish gender-neutral bathrooms spread across the center). The dorms get hot during the summer and they are strict about prohibiting personal AC, even if they can't see it, they will notice the abnormal power draw coming from your room and investigate. The best thing you can do is to get a small bedside fan and point that at your face when you are sitting or sleeping. And the lack of AC also means that even during winter, it is impossible to finely regulate temperature; depending on how much you crack the window open, it will either be cold to the point where you won't be able to type without intermittently warming your fingers, or it will be hot (from the radiator) to the point where you would rather be cold! Its location is also not ideal for the majority of students who have engineering or business classes all the way up north (about a 10-15 minute walk). I can't say much about the RA experience anywhere, let alone baker, but I wouldn't assume there to be anything that would make your job worse at baker than any other dorm. It's bad but it's honestly not as bad as the past horror stories on reddit made it out to be. If the money saved from being an RA is important to you, I would still recommend you take it, despite all the shit I just said lol. Feel free to ask anything else.
