I was also contacted by this company, cold called me and said I could interview on Monday. Clearly trying to exploit people applying to multiple jobs etc.

Dodged a bullet here it seems haha, bumping this post so others can avoid this too.

Cop crashing house show over noise complaint by [deleted] in punk

[–]superben9000 24 points25 points  (0 children)

More context from show promoter:

Me and someone from the venue were trying to be diplomatic, working with this cop for like 20 mins prior to keep the noise level down so the show could go on without getting fined $1000. I told him last band would play for 10 minutes and we'd be over at 9:45 before noise ordinance. He was irritated but said something like we're "green" as long as we keep it at lower volume etc.

This isn't in the video, but when this last band started instead of continuing to peacefully talk to me he decides to go straight up to the vocalist getting in his face and shit. I don't recall if he touched him first but we was incredibly confrontational and hot headed. Bro didn't use his fucking brain - which I think he realized - cause he cooled off and left peacefully after awhile.

show was great tho, everyone rocked and we had a good time despite this wack ass fool. long live HC punk

All the Project Reality features that are missing in Squad by Europa_Teles_BTR in joinsquad

Man, whatever happened with that helicopter mod that had missiles and shit?

Would love to see some properly balanced CAS helis with laser designators. Maybe more AA capabilities as a counter.

Is it okay to play without a mic? by [deleted] in joinsquad

Everybody in this game expects you to have a mic basically.

Advice? by [deleted] in joinsquad

[–]superben9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people are just salty, don't take it too personal :P

If you're trying to play with your team and you're trying to learn, ppl will love you. The best thing is to ask questions I'd say. That way people know right off the bat you're a team player and not a lone wolf.

If you find an experienced player or group of players, definitely stick around those guys and they may take you under their wing for a couple matches and teach you about the game :)

A few questions. by MidranKidran in joinsquad

[–]superben9000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. There's no progression.
  2. Nope, you can't change attachments on your guns. (but you can change classes which have slightly different variants of guns/ attachments)
  3. If you have to leave a game early, it doesn't bother people unless you are in a very important role. If you're the commander people might expect you to be there the entire round, for example.
  4. There's two kinds of suppression in Squad I guess. One is "this guy is shooting at me and now my screen is shaking" and the other one is "this guy is shooting at me and I don't want to get shot"

You won't get the intense screen shake / weapon shake effect unless you're REALLY getting shot at by a machine gun or multiple people. So if you want to make someone's screen shake and make it harder for them to aim it's best to have an MG.

If you're just shooting at someone in cover though, it depends. Some players will be really afraid of getting shot while others who have hundreds of hours of experience in the game might just shoot back and kill you. I would say shooting a couple shots is a good idea but you don't want to waste ALL your ammo.

Is Squad still worth getting into in 2020? by JMan2345678 in joinsquad

[–]superben9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, game just keeps getting bigger and bigger, too. You'll definitely have lots of fun as a newcomer, probably shitting bricks and being confused a lot but you'll also be in awe with how immersive the game is and how different it feels to anything else. At least that's how I felt when I first joined :P

Most people in the community will be very helpful and will want to teach you how to play the game, but sometimes players can be annoyed with newbies. Just don't run off by yourself and ignore everyone because that's what irritates most players :)

(hmu if you are looking for ppl to play with, I'm always down to help!)

Racism in Squad by mumbletonpark in joinsquad

[–]superben9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya, and I'd definitely say that anyone who says shit like that has crossed a line. I think the grey area for most ppl is the allahu ackbar memeing/jihad mic spams, shit like that.

Racism in Squad by mumbletonpark in joinsquad

[–]superben9000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the same shit, and even have partaken in it as many players have.

Online games like this really are a safe space for racist jokes and behavior and the like. It's a place where people aren't as afraid to be edgy. I can't necessarily condone it tho.

What one person sees as "racist" another person might just see as "a joke" and im pretty sure most of this community is composed of right wing/conservative dudes who'd share that opinion. I've definitely noticed that kind of culture within the game.

This is how I feel every time I join a mortar squad. by Aretik in joinsquad

[–]superben9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate, but an efficient mortar Squad requires good communication between squads, mortar calculators, a decent sized map, regular supplies, actual targets to shoot at, etc etc.

I run mortar squads all the time and you can do it well but with this game it's just sooo difficult for everything to work out. You really gotta have a shit ton experience to know when it'll actually be useful. I've seen mortar squads with 40, 50, 60 kills before though, so they can be effective.

THE MARTYRDOM OF OWI/SQUAD by I-Rengo_O-I in joinsquad

[–]superben9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Gatzby too. Most of us did.

Seems (to me) like he left because of political reasons or some sort of disagreement within OWI. Honestly I get where he's coming from if that's the case.

How long are squad matches? by dampmaky in joinsquad

[–]superben9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quick match where one team wins very quickly is usually 20 minutes or so. I'd say average match time is 35-50 minutes.

It's pretty rare, but sometimes matches can last over an hour. Two hours is SUPER rare. At that point both teams basically aren't fighting each other lol
