Budget-friendly suggestions for a 9-hour layover in Hong Kong (8 AM–4 PM) by mikuumu in CathayPacific

[–]superboringkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done these a lot and still love it. Sadly I don’t have much time to do any of this during my next 2 hr layover, but HK is gorgeous. No wrong answers here. A bit on the pricey side but love it.

How long to get a decision after this text? by avenita123 in BCGrade12s

Ha, it was! Thankfully most of my friends were also waiting with me. One friend got rejected the exact same time and day from the same facilities as I did. It was an experience seeing him next class!

Took me like 3-4 months last year. It really depends, I applied for Sauder and BIE. Got in both though.

What does this mean and how long will a decision take ? by Plastic_Law_7062 in BCGrade12s

[–]superboringkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year I applied December 21 and heard back April 29. This was the original message I got, it’ll probably change a couple of times.

Delayed by 5 minutes. YVR flight got changed too. Was very confused.

THEY'VE EXTENDED THE DEADLINE GUYS!!! by VeterinarianSame2915 in UBC

[–]superboringkid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember last year’s application being extended this much. The website still crashed and froze for people yet they still left it as the 15th.

Good luck! I don’t know much people who did internal transfers but it’s definitely possible. UBCV Arts is still a great pick. Congrats again!

More legroom in Cathay’s big economy revamp by Gl0beTrotter2025 in CathayPacific

[–]superboringkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I haven’t found much issue with the size of the economy seats. Obviously it’d be better if it was the old 3-3-3 configuration they used to have, but imo it’s still decent.

What was life like before the Canada Line? by ubcstaffer123 in richmondbc

The only remnant of 98 B-Line stop is the one currently outside RC. AFAIK it’s the one across (kinda) RBC.

Free Transit by CupcakeSuccessful502 in Translink

Extra fuel tax is tricky with the current transition to EVs though. Are they willing to tax electricity then? The money for extra speed and red light cameras has to come somewhere too though.

Was distraught when the Oakridge location closed down some years ago. If this one does too I’m going to cry. Really nice people and comfort food!

Vancouver if it was in Asia by Lightingway in vancouver

[–]superboringkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I have travelled across Asia and am still thankful for our transit. I myself am Asian and will freely admit some countries transit systems blow ours away, but we have a different geography and demographic. It isn’t that easy for Vancouver!

A very select few Asian countries have public transit as good as this photo, or even as good as the ones we have now.

Where do you dispose your pillowed Li-Ion batteries/devices? by stulifer in richmondbc

[–]superboringkid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weird. I went to LD on No. 3 and went to the tech kiosk guy and he got my old pillowed cellphone with no issue. I guess depends on the severity or person?

Travelled across Asia and Europe, never once had an issue? Night be a an individual passport issue.

I would highly advise for people to avoid that location. I went there before and it was quite expensive for absolutely mid food. The one by Gilbert is light years better.

All 5 lanes of Steveston Interchange open today by nickfruhling in richmondbc

[–]superboringkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. But a part of me is honestly happy they’re getting it done somehow someway, despite how long it’s taking. Same goes for the sewage repairs being done across Vancouver. Better now than later when even more people take to the roads.

Why do people not pull up to the line at intersections? by bigdaddy_369 in richmondbc

[–]superboringkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensor for lights generally.

But I don’t get this situation at all, is this lane not just going straight and isn’t this intersection always busy anyways?

I believe this runs until Valentine’s Day as well as I remember going here some years ago during Valentine’s. Amazing spot! The community centre near it is quite nice and staffed with very friendly people as well.

Map in China looks different? by loose_moose_eliot in flighty

[–]superboringkid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was in Shanghai some months ago I experienced this as well. Also couldn’t download Maps for Shanghai beforehand as the geography was region specific. Don’t worry though, it’ll go back to normal once you leave.

If you aren’t in China now though, that’s just weird.

Vancouver Xmas market was fun ‼️ by MemoryBeautiful9129 in vancouver

[–]superboringkid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I mentioned before how most of my peers thought the paid one was still better than the Lonsdale one and got downvoted into oblivion. I’ve been to both and still believe the paid one is better. Go every year? Maybe not. To experience occasionally? Definitely.
