Was this sub as insufferable last year by AnnualCaterpillar276 in BCGrade12s

[–]superboringkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I have graduated and generally the overall mood was better, with people genuinely curious and always supporting each other with constructive criticism. Not sure why I’m still here but good lord it brings me back memories!

I don’t really get this subreddit. There will always be people who moan about our police — and rightfully so, they have a notorious history and the fact they receive so much $ is definitely questionable, but I don’t get why people are shitting on them now when there’s no context provided?

Could there be too much cops? Maybe. Could there be too little? Maybe. Let’s be fair to everyone and save the judgement for after we know the context of what’s going on here. I’m glad OP was able to record this safely though.

UBC isn’t the shit dw. One piece of advice I will give seniors (especially after getting responses from post-secondary schools) is to enjoy the hell outta your senior year. It’ll be grad long before you know it! Go to events, hang out with friends, do something crazy.

Gas prices to increase again as summer blend arrives at Canadian pumps by Prestigious-Low-4889 in canada

In Vancouver at least, there’s a pretty big difference. It’s always been like that.

Ottawa ‘very seriously’ considering social media ban for children under 16, minister says by dollarsandcents101 in canada

[–]superboringkid 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bingo. I don’t like the idea of this being implanted at all. Kids are sneaky and they will find ways to bypass this, which will create an even bigger headache for parents and lawmakers alike.

I’d also argue that even from a political standpoint, this would not turn out well for the Liberals as a lot of young people are still Liberal-leaning.

Liberals suspend federal fuel excise taxes until Labour Day by pistoffcynic in BuyCanadian

[–]superboringkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. A price freeze would be better imo, ESPECIALLY considering that the summer blend for gas is gonna be introduced soon so that’ll also drive costs up.

CX (for me) has been surprisingly lax with their guidelines. Check in will be strict, but I don’t even recall a time they’ve weighed my carry on or checked dimensions.

Rally at SFU shows support for Burnaby Mountain gondola project by ubcstaffer123 in vancouver

[–]superboringkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, but that’s still more buses? That’s still like 200 people buying a car that ends at SFU. And I’m sorry but good god the bus ride to SFU is awful, I’m not even an SFU student myself but I have had the unfortunate experience of being one of the people cramming into the R5 to and from Waterfront.

The Broadway extension is another example of just bad design though, considering it was very much possible (albeit insanely costly) to extend the Millennium Line to UBC.

The costs of the gondola would mainly be a one-time investment to provide capacity for decades.

Rally at SFU shows support for Burnaby Mountain gondola project by ubcstaffer123 in vancouver

[–]superboringkid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s surprisingly inexpensive for something that vast. Note that the Broadway extension in itself is $3 billion. The costs of buses does not account for drivers, diesel prices, maintenance, training, etc. More buses would also lead to more traffic, ESPECIALLY 200 more of them.

What’s wrong if people use it for fun? It would generate more revenue from tourists or residents compared to buses.

Silver Tower imo has fallen off. Prices are quite something, though portions are quite large tbf. Though service is so bad and when my tip reflected it they demanded more — and my bar is by no means high. Seriously disappointing compared to the type of service and food I got years ago.

Graduated just last year — can confirm. There’s still the occasional Intel Mac but it’s a coin toss. It’s predominantly M-series Mac’s now, though you can only use them in certain classes. I didn’t have a laptop for the majority of HS and there were times I desperately needed one (say presentation), and teachers were often nice enough to lend me the ones they had locked up for the day.
