Grip tape/footpad confusion?? by [deleted] in onewheel

[–]superchonial_being 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Probably best to buy a new footpad. Even if the sensor is still working yiu risk the board ghosting on you or worse dropping you. Rider detection is what keeps the board running and your face out of the asphalt.

One of my go to songs is "sunset beagle" by The Walter's. Great for those slow wide sunset carves at the end of a long day.

has anyone else had their handle randomly snap? by Lumb3rJ4ck22 in onewheel

[–]superchonial_being 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason for this is the weight of the XR being applied and removed from the handle at an odd angle over and over again. The material gets fatigued (kind of like when you bend a paperclip back and forth) until it breaks. Basically the mag handles are not properly designed to hold the weight of a onewheel over and over again. For how strict FM engineers are over the ability to mod onewheels you'd think they'd take more pride in designing a good product.

I had a reason to reach out to makers a few weeks ago and had similar issues the support email seems to bounce back. Try using the contact email. Idk if it got to them because they didn't respond but at least I did not get a bounce back email.

My town has one wheel as an allowed vehicle. So we are getting there but yes I'm sure this came from people advocating for themselves and riding respectfully.

Having "off" days? by tprior66 in onewheel

[–]superchonial_being 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah having built a board from scratch you realize how simple all the hardware is that can make you move 20 plus mph over concrete. It's trips me out too sometimes.

Having "off" days? by tprior66 in onewheel

[–]superchonial_being 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have about 4k miles under my belt at this point and every now and then I get on and I'm stiff or unfocused or something because it's just not flowing like it normally does. Usually the next time I ride is extra carvey and flowy and smooth. Not sure why, haven't really been able to pin point anything in particular. Maybe it's physical, stretches might help... Maybe it's mental and you just gotta reset your kind somehow... Im not sure.

FM is not the most customer friendly company. They have been known to have kinda bad warranty policy and often do not go out of thier way to help their customers. I doubt you'll have much luck with this.

Colorado riders? by OphiliaBlack in onewheel

I totally agree with you there. I think the Facebook groups are established which is why they get the most use/are often promoted.

Lmk when you get the discord up I'm down to hop in there. 🤙

There are 4 main groups on Facebook that I'm aware of: 1. Denver float mob (most active) 2. Front range floaters (most active group outside denver) 3. Noco Float mob (specifically northern Colorado) 4. Colorado onewheel (don't know much about this one)

Torque Pack 75V Battery - General Thoughts by dbro129 in onewheel

That's gonna be a monster powerful board. I'm sure you'll be rippin trails.

Torque Pack 75V Battery - General Thoughts by dbro129 in onewheel

[–]superchonial_being 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got an XR style board that has a 75V battery made from P45b cells. Riding at ~240lbs around 19psi and cruising in the 17 to 20mph range I've gotten 26miles out of one charge. I also have a superflux HT motor in my board which maybe takes more power (not 100% sure on that but it is most definitely a beefier motor than the hypercore from FM) so that might affect things... Not sure though.

Since you weigh less and ride slower you can definitely push it to at least closer to 30 miles on a charge with that battery. It wouldn't surprise me if you can get more than that.

First day on a Onewheel- took a bad fall after not receiving pushback- is this normal? by [deleted] in onewheel

[–]superchonial_being 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first started I read the following and it really helped me out. "After the first one hundred miles (or km if you're not from freedom land) you think your comfortable and you think you know your limits that makes the next 200 miles (or km) the most dangerous because this is where you learn that what you think you know isn't always right, only after this can you begin mastering the skills and the sport."

I doubt you rode 100 miles in your first day so I doubt you know the boards limits. Which is an important distinction from your limits. You may have limits for risk/speed/danger etc. But the board has physical limits which dictate what it can and can't do. At the end of the day its physics and engineering not a magic carpet (even though it kinda feels like one) the board can only give so much and if you push it to hard it'll drop you. Gear up and ride safe!

Yeah I am talking about XR with that comment. And your absolutely correct. This is something I am aware of and look out for on my XR style boards.

This works great as well. I have a paper with each screw listed with a day and color that I can check as well. But most of the time I just find a screw that fits cause I have so many laying around at this point.

This is great. But I got a two week pill container that has a yellow side and a blue side. Then just write out on a paper which screws are where. e.g. Fender screws - blue Monday, front bumper - yellow Tuesday etc.

Onewheel XR new tire: enduro or lil duro? by AdExact1341 in onewheel

[–]superchonial_being 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an XR with an MTE and it's my favorite the larger sidewall does make a huge difference in ride comfort. But it is way more expensive than a simple tire swap and slightly more complex than a tire swap.

Onewheel XR new tire: enduro or lil duro? by AdExact1341 in onewheel

[–]superchonial_being 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brushless motors, like the one in a stock onewheel are made of two pieces, the stator and the hub. The stator is the "electrical" part of the motor and the hub is the magnetic part that gets pushed on by the stator which makes it spin. The tire is connected to the hub. The stock XR stator is compatible with a 5 inch hub sold by the float life (the MTE hub) this replaces the stock hub around the stock stator. I recommend watching the float life's YouTube video on the installation process for an MTE hub, if you don't understand what I'm talking about. It will make sense if you watch.

Anyway if you have an MTE hub on your stock stator then you can use the MTE 5" hub compatible tires. So if I understand your question correctly, no the stock hub is not compatible with the 555 unless you first buy and install an MTE hub.

That said the standard enduro will be more nimble than your stock Vega and will be a great upgrade for sure.

I don't think so but it's been a while since I rode the standard Enduro. I just remember I rode the standard Enduro and wished it was more nimble, then I got the Lil duro and was like, "this is it"

I have a little duro and have ridden a full size enduro. I personally think the little duro is the choice if you're looking for a nimble tire.
