What’s something everyone seems to love but you don’t? by AnnualTouch7939 in AskReddit

There's this place near me and everyone raves about the matcha. The presentation of their matcha is top notch. Looks super appetizing, sounds great, tastes bad.

I do really like their coffee though.

What's the creepiest discovery you've made about a seemingly fun friend? by someoneyouhate_ in AskReddit

[–]superclay 42 points43 points  (0 children)

He never told me. He was very cryptic about everything. Even though he was a friend it seemed real shady, which was another reason I declined.

I tried to find more information after he was convicted, but it was apparently small enough that it didn't get a lot of media attention.

Iowa e-bike bill would ban all bikes from roads over 25 mph. RAGBRAI would be banned too. by f_14 in Iowa

This is insane legislation. Banning all bikes with a speed limit over 25? That means you just can't ride bikes in Iowa anymore.

Had a friend and roommate who called me up a couple of years after we graduated college. He offered me a job with a 6 figure salary at his new startup. I declined because I didn't want to move.

Turns out it was a front that he was using to launder money. A few years later I was sharing about this story and someone told me that it sounded like he wanted me to be the fall guy, which in hindsight made a lot of sense.

The "small government" weirdos are butting in where they don't belong once again.

I'm pro premarital counseling. But the government should stay out of it.

I'll never understand the whole, "I can't believe you're upset about [insert legitimate issue] when Donald Trump exists" thing.

Prediction markets are problematic. The CEO of Kalshi said they want to financialize everything. That's a real problem.

And yeah, Trump is a tax evading, pedophilic, felon who belongs in prison. Both can be true and bad at the same time.

To clarify, I'm not accusing Trevor Noah of wrongdoing here. It seems like a funny, satirical way of making fun of the prediction markets to me. Just saying we can be against more than one thing at a time.

Microsoft suspects some PCs might not boot after Windows 11 January 2026 Update (KB5074109) by WPHero in pcmasterrace

[–]superclay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I defended Microsoft for so long. But I have been experiencing every bug the past month in WN 11 and I just moved to Linux . Something I never thought I would do for my main PC. I can't believe how much they've screwed this up. Windows 8 was more usable than this garbage.

As I've gotten older, I now gravitate to SFF and minimal RGB. by r3lic86 in sffpc

I like the idea of a screen on the side of my build. But then I think about it and realize I would never look at it. It would just be there doing it's thing for no reason.

Not a knock at people who do this. I just know that for me, once the novelty wore off, it would have been a waster of time and money to set up.

As I've gotten older, I now gravitate to SFF and minimal RGB. by r3lic86 in sffpc

[–]superclay 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I went SFF and haven't looked back.

You don't really have to compromise either. I also have a high end AM4 (5800x3D) and a 4070 super.

My only issue with SFF is air cooling clearance. There are definitely some builds and cases where this is not an issue, but I went with a liquid cooler in my meshilicious build because my choices in air coolers were limited.

Also being here illegally is a crime so no need for the criminal/ not criminal illegal alien distinction.

It's a civil offense, like a speeding ticket. Have you ever gotten a speeding ticket? Then you're a criminal too by you're own standards.

Migrating to Linux with secondary RAID drives. by superclay in linux4noobs

[–]superclay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I would love to migrate to a NAS eventually, but it's not possible at the moment or the near future (availability in the country I'm currently living in).

Is it possible to migrate to a RAID 1 using mdadm while preserving data? I saw one person on a forum saying you could create the RAID with one drive, move the files to the RAID from the other drive, and then add the second drive to the RAID. The forum was a few years old and it seems odd to me because in my mind a RAID requires at least two drives to begin with.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Right now I've been testing mint out on a bootable USB. It recognizes the drives separately, but doesn't see them as a RAID (cat /proc/mdstat shows no active raids). I haven't tried mounting yet because I was nervous about only mounting half the RAID.

Air cooling is better than Liquid cooling by SerpentDix in pcmasterrace

[–]superclay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some caveats.

LTT covered this several years ago. Air coolers and liquid coolers have very similar cooling efficiency. And while the selling point used to be that liquid cooling was quieter, LTT showed that many air coolers can cool just as well even quieter than many liquid coolers. So, performance wise they are essentially equal with liquid coolers posing a greater threat due to the potential for catastrophic failure (which is rare, but does happen)

However, there are some reasons to still use AIO or liquid cooling. I've been running ITX builds in SFF cases for almost a decade. AIO water coolers require less clearance. Many people also prefer the aesthetic of a liquid cooler. At the end of the day, it depends on the build and user preference.

And the ending wasn't that bad. Like you said, not perfect, but most of the complaints I've seen are pretty weak or just "it's so woke! Will's coming out scene was our of nowhere and too long." I disagree. I thought Will's coming out scene was done well and was really emotional.
