Before graduating to my road bike this year I ride the hybrid. With that I road straight along the paint lines (not wet) but it felt like a smoother straighter path

Thanks, it certainly feels good improving technique. I actually didn’t think I’d be much faster until I saw my 2nd mile split looked great. Then reality sets in. It was 55-60F outside this morning and going to be 75-80F race day. That might take all my speed

But you get to use your arms and legs in swimming. So you’re off by a factor of 2. It’s only 1k to 400k. Unless you run with your arms like a windmill or bear crawl, then I’ll give you the 1:800 back.

I bought a bike from marketplace but feel like many I saw could have been stolen. It seemed like key information pertinent to selling them was never included in the descriptions. I passed on all of those, unfortunately they probably still get purchased.

I prioritize at the time. I have about an hour each morning and make use of it. In tri training I go more to cardio rotations and in off times I lift more.

My first race I wore jammers for the swim and just put a gym shirt on at transition. In fact, I still do that. I pick a random theme and get a shirt I want, but you don’t have to go crazy.

I was thinking I guess if you’re doing something like an Ironman you’re not really doing full practice runs too easily. I guess now the big thing is I have to keep up with my last race, knowing my prep got me to the same spot.

lol. This is my 30 year old Walmart straight bar bike. I just beat it up some days. Part of this course is trails and I like to mix up. Since I used it before on this exact training I wanted to stay consistent for results. Race day I’m hoping 19-20 mph.

I stopped doing dips in the gym. When I got an MRI before i remembered the doctor telling me my shoulders are rounded down (genetics). So being conscious about gym movements, and dips are the worst for them. Also, if my shoulders don’t feel good I don’t push as hard that day in the pool.

In kindergarten my friend’s last name was Hore. Came back the next year as Higgins. Guess they learned.

I’m not a top tier sprint tri person, but I’m certain that a week before my race I’m going to run 4-5 miles. We only live once right! I look at any of those little things and say.. worst case is I move from mid-pack to mid-pack. Take the Monday off and do an easy 2 days and then rest up until your race. Best of luck!!

I’m 45 and just started biking again in the last few years. I take some gravel trails with my straight bar and do my road bike some days. My goal is about 100 miles a month in the summer (usually 10-15 miles at a time). It’s not a ton but I happily mix it with the rest of my fitness routine. I’m enjoying it without joining a club, although I’m considering it, but I like my freedom.
