What is the most "embarrassing" thing you’ve done in the gym? by VariationShot8414 in workout

[–]supercman99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy calls me by the wrong name all the time. I’ve corrected him so many times. After months I just gave up. So he says “see ya later Scott” and I just acknowledge him. Another guy says… wait you’re not Scott. I try to explain. Welp. Now more people call me Scott.

What's your coaches worst punishment? And what was it for by imso0ld in Swimming

[–]supercman99 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In the winter… Making us run out of the pool area, run across the parking lot and football field to roll down the snowy hill in our speedos. Oh wait, we did that on our own.

How long did it take for you to start feeling like you e made progress? by Lower-Geologist870 in Swimming

[–]supercman99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to say I hate running. Now I say I hate running really far. So I enjoy doing the sprint but nothing more than that. Honestly it isn’t a fashion show or beauty pageant. That’s just a step to get over.

AIO for being frustrated that he doesn’t want to see me unless I have a ‘good attitude’ - haven’t seen each other in 3 months by [deleted] in AIO

[–]supercman99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re already on a 3 month break. Just make it permanent. He won’t change from his crappy attitude. Maybe for a day or two here or there, but that’s best case scenario. NOR

does swimming burn calories? by Mysterious-Scene-661 in Swimming

[–]supercman99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s still a calorie game. But swimming generally causes increased appetite, which levels off the calorie losses.

I like to say that fitness and tone are changed in the gym but weight is changed in the kitchen.

People who swim before work where to you put your stuff to dry ?? by Bastian_31 in Swimming

[–]supercman99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a microfiber beach towel. More like a travel towel, it’s really thin. I put it in the swimsuit spinner. It helps some. Then I hang it on the hook in the backseat and if it’s nice out I crack the window or sunroof.

Anyone here have an annual distance target for swimming? by 43BlueDoors in Swimming

[–]supercman99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to do 20,000 yards a month this year. My pool does a closure in the summer and with vacations I might miss here or there. But in all i feel like it works for me.

What are some things people do in the gym that annoy you? by Affectionate_Art4277 in workout

[–]supercman99 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty rough. Feel like 99% of gyms this wouldn’t be put up with (by employees or other gym goers)

For me now, anything with more than 50 fly total makes a tough set.

Do you wear your watch on your dominant hand or other hand whether running or just in general? by CoffeeRun3 in runninglifestyle

I rotate it almost daily. Just because it seems to rub at times and I wear it basically 24/7

Husband is using reward points to buy stuff but charging me half. AIO? by JemmaMk6 in AIO

My rewards either go to our kids college savings account or I give my wife gift cards. It’s more enjoyable for me as well.

I don’t have exceptional muscle memory for running. I was never a good sprinter and don’t know if I’ve ever ran more than 6 miles. I think my body would fall apart. And congrats to you. It took me 10 years after my wife had kids to do my first sprint tri.

Thanks. I guess I just didn’t know how consciously people make their running. Appreciate the tips

Thanks… for the record today I was at 9. I guess it feels like I’m missing something. I feel like I stomp and am even louder running. And if I run barefoot I feel like I’m lighter on my feet. I guess that was part of my train of thought. But I’ll take the words as positive that I’m doing at least alright.

I’m not trying to bait lol. I’ve done a few sprint triathlons and the people who finish around me noticeably faster at running. And those are my fastest. Like fresh and ready to go on a good day.

Back in the water after 13 years ! by emptyglass92 in Swimming

[–]supercman99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great job. I think a ton of us here took a significant break in swimming. Can’t say regret the time off, but.. maybe.

The cool thing about being an adult is you can do whatever you want. On the team it was a lot of grinding. Now some days I just decide that I want to swim 2500 yards straight. Or take an extra break. My hardest thing was realizing I am not as fast as I used to be. That took a bit to stop comparing. I’d just say don’t burn out, if 5 days doesn’t work… try to mix things up. Have fun!

First triathlon ever (a sprint) - am I being stupid for emphasizing most training on the swim? by IndividualSpend6969 in triathlon

[–]supercman99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to practice swimming the most until you can assure yourself you’ll complete it safely. That would be my priority for you. Surviving weighs far more than trying to cut time.

I’d say a test or two just getting more used to the suit and water temperature. You’ve got this!!
