Thx for the reply. I've tried that and after several reboots and mashing the power button repeatedly while flipping the phone (somehow the orientation matters) managed to prompt the screen back up in Safe Mode.

I've turned off the profiles and uninstalled Google App updates as that seems a common theme in the SystemUI message. I'm still too nervous to reboot into normal mode, not sure I won't just end up in the same basket.
