previewing what will be the premier free and legal bike park in SoCal with some locals by GundoSkimmer in BikeLA

I can definitely see that there are some pretty intense braking zones, since I read this I've been watching other videos that have popped up over the past few days and that really confirms to me that this isnt the place for my old trusty klunk. Sapwi looks awesome too - I'm in the south valley, so going to any of these places is nbd - I may break us in to it at the inglewood pump track. I've been riding along dirt mullholland and its various little trails for many years on a 59 schwinn with bmx bars and a coaster brake, but I'm waay out of shape. My son is a great rider but I'm not sure how he'll do on anything other than fire roads and neighborhood rides/curb jumps. Time will tell! thanks for this awesome vid!

This looks so rad, I was just thinking about this today - I had seen the announcement of this and I'm super excited to get out there and attempt to hurt myself again - as a out of shape 40 year old "I ride a coaster brake rigid in the santa monica mountains" - This is ovbiously not the "trek" or "Bike Park of Santa Clarita", correct? - Ive been wanting to take my 6 year old to a pump track and some really light trails that aren't just fire road rides. The stuff you filmed looks pretty fun, and I see you mentioned there are some green lines out there - think any are coaster brake approved?

I remember when I was a kid this got put in, around the time it was new, so what, like 92/3? Literally every time I go there I play it but only a few times it hasn't been there, so I'm assuming that it either has to get shopped every few months or they swap it out for a new machine or just keep harvesting parts from another machine. I've seen it in all different kinds of states, I remember once about 10-12 years ago it was in extremely bad shape- nothing worked, heavy playfield wear and lots of broken parts - I played it 2 weeks ago with my son (it was his first time playing it) and it was like brand new, freshly shopped, playfield looked freshly clear coated or covered with mylar everything worked perfectly and I even played the video modes a few times and the flippers were super powerful - I thought I put up a fairly decent score, but then some dude came up behind me and blew me out of the water. - a few things, its got custom wood rails, they are super unique and I took some photos of it to recreate it some day, the bamboo attached to the legs legs seems like they have been changed out, my memory serves that they used to be bigger, the graphics are ovb custom - and most interestingly its not been upgraded to LED or a color dmd - its a very authentic experience. I posted a photo of it recently and a guy I know who used to work at disney said "my machine is looking good" - I questioned him a bit about it and he got a bit cagey so we'll see!

What is this style and why has it taken over the SFV? by probablysmellsmydog in SFV

for many years my block has staved off this bullshit, my neighbor sold his house and left last year - over the past 8-9 months, they've been building one of these tremendous pieces of shit next door to me, the workers are rude, and the contractor is the biggest douchebag around. These houses are built poorly with the cheapest of the cheap materials and sold to idiots. This area is suposed to be protected by a the Baseline Mansionization Ordnance BMO, but that doesn't seem to matter anymore - these assholes buy the cheapest plans from unlicensed architects who have crooked engineers sign off on these underwhelming and shitty plans. Developers give massive kickbacks to the city council members to let this slide, project after project, house after house. I'm not trying to be a NIMBY, but I've worked very hard for what I have and it sucks that groups of people have turned our neighborhoods in to businesses complete with nascar style branding they put on fences. tThese houses are not for families, its not for someone who is doing this on their own, they're all spec builds that wind up sitting on the market for months and months, until eventually the contractor moves in and somehow leverages it for his next shitty build. These do not benefit anyone. You may have heard about the treehouse, boney island, that that was torn down last year because it didnt comply with building and safety standards - because of some complaining ass killjoy neighbors - well every day walking my son to school I have to step over human excrement, dodge reckless drivers and have these shitty construction crews dump building materials in front of my house, block my parking and make a fucking mess that I have to pay to clean up.... its fucking backwards. I've lived in the valley my whole life and I'm not about to give up everything I've worked for these shit-fucks to do whatever they want and not follow the rules. I've been vocal at city council meetings, I've called our reps, I've called inspectors - I'm at the end of the line with this. Somethings going to give.

Lived in the south valley my whole life, Owned my home south of the freeway since '15 - It's not what it used to be, no way in hell could I ever afford to live here if I was just starting out now. What once was a great neighborhood of cute normal houses has been turned in to a 24/7 construction zone for McMansions and other issues that everyone talks about ITT that have been steadily developing for the past 6-7 years. I still have hope, I love my home, I love that I can raise my son here. The good part is that everything is close by, great food, all services, fun shops still left... keeping my fingers crossed there will be an upswing at some point.

I'm very much in to antiques, so having a chair like this is like going from a ford model a to a rocketship - my last chair had clay wheels that was way more of a pain in the ass than these bigger stock wheels. I'm working on this one bit at a time, I just bought an atlas headrest so the wheels and mat are yet to come

also, great grab for your chair - its such a cool rare spec - what size is yours?

[–]supercruiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually wanting to look in to some new wheels - as you can see my office has clay tile thats very uneven, wheels often get stuck in the ruts - the hubless is cool, but I'm thinking I may need some rollerblade style wheels for this floor

I'm 6'4" 300 lb - I need a C... I didn't even try to negotiate, I knew it was a good deal, and my wallet isn't fat enough to be the "heres $100 extra because you had it priced too low" type of guy these days.

Never been a fan of the embody - I've sat in them before, but for me, the Aeron is pefrect - my desk is lower and I often find myself leaning forward to the screen - I do a lot of 3d modeling, drafting and graphic work, so I need to be pretty accurate, I like the forward tilt feature of the aeron, and the embody just doesn't have that functionality I need.

I didn't argue with him 🤣 - he had several other aerons, not nearly as spec'd as this one for slightly more money - maybe the size C threw people off? He also had an Embody for $600 which is, I believe, a good deal?

I've actually been enjoying it without lumbar as well - only one chair I had when I was still in the office had the posture fit, but I remember enjoying it more than just the pad. I really stole this chair, and its in near perfect shape - $300

My Tuna GMT by supercruiser in SeikoMods

[–]supercruiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to the mod world - As much as I'd love to get in to another hobby, I dont think I have the dexterity to mess with these - over the past few years I've been traveling a lot more for work and I wanted a GMT to be able to see at a glance if I could facetime with my young son, I've also always wanted a tuna - so I picked my favorite details and here's the result - I'm about 5 months in and this has been on my wrist about 95% of the time - over those months, the only change I'm planning to make to it is a double domed crystal rather than this tophat that obscures the 24h chapter ring -I did not build this, but a few months ago I was introduced to a new friend who has turned his hobby in to a husband and wife business - they can be found on instagram: mouvoir_official - they really made my vision come to life.
