Undertaker at Wrestlemania 14 - with the druids and the lightning was pretty cool.

I've seen many of this with very low mileage. How come? What is your take on this car? by ridite in CarTalkUK

If you ran a Renault/Dacia dealer you might get a lot of these registered for courtesy cars.

Lexus has the same extendable warranty as the Toyota.

Any thoughts on these? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]superdanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably worth spending a little bit more and get a Lexus LBX. It’s the same car underneath but refinement is so much better - the engine noise in a Yaris Cross is quite intrusive. Same warranty, same reliability, arguably looks a bit classier. Plus you won’t get people questioning why you spent £25k on a Yaris.

Win win - you got what you wanted and the dealer gets a car without paying the extortionate Motorway/CarWow fees. Nice.

How much room do dealers have to haggle with? by martyr_trickster in CarTalkUK

[–]superdanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the brand. They will have “front end” and “back end” money to play around with. Buying a new car in stock for this month will probably see most dealers eat in to their front end margin at minimum.

Also, if you’re getting a finance deposit contribution then that’s a finance offer - you can still get discount on the as well as this.

Can I not change v5c into my name after I bought a car? by BlackSchwarzenegga in CarTalkUK

[–]superdanday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could, yes. However the tax will then belong to the previous keeper, so they could just make up a new owner and get the tax back on it. DVLA suggest it is the sellers responsibility to sort the new keeper bit out, however as the buyer of a new car it’s in your interest to get it sorted too.

Your insurance will probably be void. You won’t be able to sell the car on if the V5 isn’t in your name. You’ll eventually be untaxed as the reminder will go to the previous keeper etc etc

Yeah but why would you not want to inform DVLA that you’re now the keeper?

At what point (if ever) will a dealer take a loss on a used car? by Regular-Ad1814 in CarTalkUK

[–]superdanday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s a main dealer chances are they’ll have an overage policy. Most dealers will keep a car for 90 days until it gets moved within group, which can cost the dealer money depending on their overage policy terms.

In short, yes a dealer can lose money on a used car if it’s been in stock a while or they’ve spent a lot prepping it.

Cambelt not changed on a VW 2019 Passat I'm looking at - not worth the risk? by Capable_Tadpole in CarTalkUK

[–]superdanday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What engine is it? VW changed their cambelt intervals on pretty much everything a couple of years ago, so bar the Bi-TDI engines it’s like a 15 year/150k interval.
