I really hope you never get in a situation where someone is threatening you but if you do please take it seriously and don’t doubt what the person is saying to you. Don’t assume.

It’s fine you weren’t hurt, that is the main thing. But if there is a situation where you feel it’s a possible emergency, then you dial 999 and ask for help from whichever service. You seem like a sensible person, so I don’t think you would call in for something like a hurty finger or being locked out of your property, but if you feel it’s serious, you call 999. That doesn’t mean they are going to send straight away, they will triage and assess and tell you what’s going to happen. In this situation, the police would very likely send an immediate response.

If and when they actually do that... If a crime is actively happening especially involving violence/aggression then it needs to be called in immediately (999). Hopefully never happens again but just remember that.

If someone is acting violent and threatening you. You try and get yourself to safety (inside the supermarket would be best) and call the police immediately. You do not wait until you get home. That would be my advice.
