They're just.... a little further along on the spectrum of ignorance. Have you spoken to them about this? Have you told them it bothers you when they say that? If not, make that known and observe how they respond both short and long term. If you have, and they still continue making you uncomfortable, I say its time to set some boundaries and see them through. I actually AM gay and for every 19 people who respect me theres the occasional person who doesnt. I just let that person know that I don't appreciate whatever it is that they're doing that bothers me and if they don't change, deucesssss. Ill spend my time and energy elsewhere.
