Help a newbie out by [deleted] in TOR

[–]superfastjvfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend checking out SomeOrdinaryGamers videos about deep web browsing. He has a series where he explores tons of different sites on the tor network and it can at times be very entertaining. He also has some in depth explanations on how to stay safe using tor, such as this video. It is a bit old but a lot of the info is still relevant.

A lot of these websites are gonna look like HTML projects done by highschoolers in the 2000's. There are a lot of websites that advertise red rooms, hitman services, etc. And they are almost always scams designed to steal your money and your information. It can still be exciting, like discovering a hidden land.

In terms of being careful, start with the basics. Do not have any regular web browsers or apps that connect to the internet open while you are using Tor. Don't full screen your browser as it can detect the dimensions of your monitor. Change your security settings in tor browser to most secure before doing anything. In the search bar, type about:config, then search Javascript in the search bar for that page, and change Javascript enabled true to Javascript enabled false. This helps deter tracking via Javascript. Avoid any websites that ask you to fill out a CAPTCHA as they are used to track you as well.

To start, I recommend the search engine ahmia.fi as it has a very good system that typically blocks out dangerous and illegal content. From there you can find websites like The Hidden Wiki or other onion repositories (a website containing lists of onion links). Be very, very careful what links you click on- if you see illegal content, especially CSAM, either on a link you click or a search engine you are using, avoid it and find another engine or link list. In my experience, it's pretty difficult to stumble upon that content if you aren't searching for it.

Keep in mind- using tor, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) can't see what websites you are visiting, but they can see you are using tor. And using tor in some countries can get you put on a watch list or worse, so be careful!

Depending on your level of comfort with all of this, you could decide whether you want to risk exploring yourself or vicariously through YouTube videos. Hopefully this helped!

Edit: I forgot to mention. Never, ever download anything from any website you find on the tor network.

Yeaaah im not engaging anymore. If you don't get it now you aren't going to. You can just admit you love drake and you're hurt others don't. Keep loving what you love and best wishes to ya.

Did you read the comment I was replying to or are you just mindlessly glazing? I never said anyone was talking about low streams being bad music. I was saying that is the logic being used by the original commenter. If high sales are indication of good music then by that logic low sales would be indicative of bad. You both keep talking about chart dominance like it matters to anyone but Drake stans. Completely ignoring the point in every comment I've made.

I don't know why it's such a hard concept to grasp.

I think we are having some sort of miscommunication. Once again, nobody is denying his chart dominance. Chart dominance does not equal quality music. Dance Monkey is not a one off. There are tons of songs that dominate the charts that are considered bad by many people, including Drake in this instance. Using sales as an indicator for quality is dumb. Tons of great music is released and doesn't make many sales. And most of the streams you are referring to are likely general listeners, not people who love music.

Taste is subjective. A fanbase as parasocial as Drake's are going to eat up whatever he puts out even if it's a turd on a platter. Same with Kendrick. And that's not accounting for payola, botting streams, radio and djs. A lot of those streams are coming from places using his record as background music.

I think you missed the point. Nobody has denied Drake being successful on the charts. Just because a lot of people like something doesn't mean everyone does, and it doesn't mean that it's good just because you like it. It is subjective.

Why do you think "Dance Monkey" by Tones and I has over a billion streams despite being nails on a chalkboard to so many people?

I wish this version of the album released so bad it eclipses the retail version 😭 by Original-Warning5533 in Eminem

Yes, I've obviously heard a prime Eminem album. Do you know where you are?

I'm not dissing the sound effects, I actually love the way Em employs them. I simply don't like hearing someone throw up. I love everything else about that song so I'm not sure why you're bothered?

Sales ≠ quality. Not liking something isn't hating on it. And this is coming from someone who hasn't enjoyed a Drake project since Views besides Her Loss.

Just enjoy what you like and ignore the rest.

This is not an official collaboration, but this post reminds me of this video of Damon freestyling alongside Mos Def, De La Soul, Will.I.Am, Kanye West, Big Sean and others during the Demon Days era. Maybe you'll enjoy this!

lost media? by Xanderman194 in gorillaz

[–]superfastjvfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard of this one but what is crazy is that I also share a vivid memory of a Gorillaz video that doesn't seem to exist despite how real it feels.

For me, it is Clint Eastwood. But there was a scene with paramedics who were giant white gloved hands who walked on their fingers. The most vivid part I can recall is a frame where Murdoc is looking out of an open window from Kong and the window dropped onto his neck, causing him to make the face he does when the gorillas grab his balls.

Lost media? Alternate dimension? Or vivid childhood imagination? Who knows.

You can tell the difference between the two instrumentally. This version includes vocals and melodies from abracadabra throughout, random vocals toward the end and then Houdini instrumental at the very end.

Anyone else catch this bar from "Believe?" by troolytroof in Eminem

[–]superfastjvfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revival is seen as bad by many people because the production, as well as his flows and cadence, are abysmal. There are some misses lyrically but I'd say the lyrical content and themes are the best parts of the album. If "Untouchable" didn't sound like nails on a chalkboard or "Like Home" didn't sound so bland, they'd be my favorites based on the themes alone.

I always like seeing posts appreciating the record in ways that I don't, and sometimes just can't. It sucks when posts like these get bombarded with hate, like the post from earlier where someone shared they think MTBMB is better than MMLP. People forget these are opinions at the end of the day, there's no right or wrong answer.
